Thoroughly Poetic Thursday #120

Poetic Thursday hosted by our pals Teddy and Angel Sammy

Here is today's inspiration

A special night has arrived
everyone is dressed to the nines
Ladies dolled from head to toe,
Guys too.
I can nearly hear the crinolines
 swishing as they dance.
It is time to practice the manners
 they learned in
*Cotillion Class

*The main purpose of a cotillion is to teach respectful manners to young people so they can go out into society and thrive.

  3. good job, now I am wondering if the still have cotillion classes and i went out to ask GiGi and she said yes and even some schools have it. on TV it looks like gloves are making a comeback but they are NOT The gloves of my youth. I celebrated when gloves, hats were no long in. the classes we need now are how to dress and act when shopping in Walmart.

  4. If they don't have those classes, they need to implement them....

  5. I can't imagine that "young people" could get away from their phones long enough to even dance at a prom. I can see everybody sitting at the tables eyes locked on their phones. I know, I have a negative attitude with respect to our relationship with mobile phones. Sigh.

  8. I love that poem. And Cecelia I never did know the meaning of a Cotillion! This brought memories and wishes that things hadn't devolved the way they have.

  9. What a wonderful picture, there is something so beautiful about formal dances!

I had to giggle at Sandra's comment...and agree, I see the most interesting outfits at Walmart, and most of them need to NOT be worn out of the house!

  10. Nice poem. We had no cotilion in the New England. It would have been nice. :) XO

  12. I had never heard of Cotillion Classes. We didn't have proms either although I think some schools and colleges do now.
