Thoroughly Poetic Thursday #148

Poetic Thursday hosted by our pals Teddy and Angel Sammy

Here is the photo challenge

I could not get much to rhyme with prairie dog love so my creative license let me call it Ground Hog Love.
*******************
When I first saw this photo, I thought of the song, Musk Rat Love, performed by
Captain and Tennille
written by Willis Alan Ramsey original words are in RED

May I present Ground Hog Love
Revised by Cecilia January 11, 2024

Ground Hog Ginger, Ground hog Gill
Doing the ground hog Two Step
Out on the prairie
Ginger's whiskers tickle Gill as he whispers.
Gill holds tight to Ginger who is not SKINNY

Muskrat Susie, Muskrat Sam
Do the jitterbugOut in the muskrat landAnd they shimmySam is so skinny

Gill gives Ginger a whirl
while singin' his love
Ginger is sure she is floating
on cloud 9 in heavens above.
This is looks like Ground Hog Love

And they whirl and they twirl and they tangoSingin' and jinglin' a jangoFloatin' like the heavens aboveLooks like muskrat love

Nibblin' on Ginger's ear
Gill says to her
Honey would you be my Prairie Princess
for all of your years?
Ginger squeals yes dear
as she blows kisses into his ear.

Nibblin' on bacon, chewin' on cheese
Sam says to Susie
Honey, would you please be my Mrs?
Suzie she says yes, with her kisses
Now Gill is happy, he wiggles
Ginger giggles
as nose to nose they stand
for all of their years
Now, he's ticklin' her fancyRubbin' her tiesMuzzle to muzzle nowAnything goesAs they wiggleSue starts to giggle

  10. This is one of my most favorite songs...I love the Captain and Tenille version, but I also loved the version by America(it had cute little muskrat chirps). I got a good giggle from your version!

  11. Also very familiar with Muskrat Love. The song was released in 1976 and I was two years out of college and married two years. It was a fun sweet song and I was always happy to hear it and that is still true today.
Your poem is fun... I like your interpretation of the song! Thanks for sharing the song today and your poem :)
