Caturday Art

Chelle, one of my friends in Florida, took a day trip to Blue Spring State Park
last weekend to see the lovely and graceful Manatees.
She snapped several photos of them floating about but they were quite disguise by the water.  To remember the wonderful day she bought  a refridgerator magnet.

  3. Oh, the memories. Blue Springs was less than an hour from where we lived, a very favorite place to visit. Usually January or February when its warmer waters attracted many, many manatee who had left the colder ocean waters for the winter. Now, with climate change, coastal waters are staying warmer, and some inland rivers/streams/canals and other normal places
the manatee would come for the winter are becoming more polluted, with more decomposing waste and less of a comfort zone for them (perhaps explaining the cloudiness your friend saw on her visit there). In past times, Blue Springs waters ran crystal clear, fresh, bright. These gentle giants deserve better.

  4. I have never been able to go to Florida and see these lovely creatures. I can only imagine the intense feeling that a person would have when they see these manatees swimming about.

  11. We are lucky to see manatees and dolphins frequently at Humphris Park around the South Jetty located on Venice Island. They are big and adorable :) The South Jetty walkway is till closed because of damage from Hurricane Idalia late Augustof 2023. That is a sweet memento of the day trip!
