Nature and Feline Friday

Nature Friday host LLB Gang   Click here Hostess Miss Mimi

This little slug was going down the side of our house head first...I am not much on creepy crawlies but he was actually pretty cute..

What is the purpose of a slug: providing a crucial food source for other wildlife, many species are key composters, helping to breakdown decomposing vegetation. There are approximately 40 species of slug currently found in the UK, with only a small number of these considered as pest species. A slugh is a tough-skinned terrestrial mollusk which typically lacks a shell and secretes a film of mucus for protection. It can be a serious plant pest.

Flash Back March 8, 2014

Madi said you can never, NO never, have too many cushions or pillows.  Look at those sweet paw prints on the white pillow.

  1. The opinion in the Gail and Nobby household is that the words 'cute' and 'slug' do not belong in the same sentence.
And Nobby would like to know why his paws are never allowed near white pillows.....

  6. Awwww, Angel Madi looks so cozy and snuggly in those pillows. As for the slug thing- dad's sitting here trying to come up with something to say, but he slept poorly, got up too early and his brain's lagging a bit.

  7. We prefer that beautiful colorful pillow to the slug. It truly is a beauty!

  8. Hi angel Madi, Beau loves a pillow nest too. We miss you sweet girl. Bob saw the slug and said put some salt on it, just as I read the thought he was cute comment and said he sees nothing cute. I agree the slug is cute. I like them except the ones that eat the plants, flowers and all

  9. Angel Madi had the right idea about a comfy place to be. I'll give you all this looks that I have. I have two flower beds, and I have the ugliest huge yellow slugs that I have ever seen in my life. And they eat absolutely everything including marigolds.

  10. Slugs are weird and generally ugly, but Mom is always fascinated by their little antennas. Maybe they have tv built into their heads and that gets them better reception on local channels?

  12. With slugs, I am between ewwww at first and then thinking they are pretty cute. Love their front end little faces but the inbetween is too ick. Sounds more like I am dining on them then looking at them.
I will look at Madi any day and yes her little paw prints are adorable♥

  13. Our dad hates the slugs that eat his plants, but they are a good food source for other creatures. We love the Madi flash back.

  15. I grew to be awed by slugs in California, but they do raise havoc with leafy plants!
Angel Madi is looking adorable as usual...both the girls love laying on multiple beds, blankets and/or pillows.
    Have a wonderful weekend!
    hugs,
    Beth

  17. Angel Madi lived a good life and she knew about pillows as comforting nest objects.
No slugs for me, they destroy plants!

  20. Wondering just what eats slugs, I looked it up: vertebrate predators of snails and slugs include shrews, mice, squirrels, and other small mammals; salamanders, toads and turtles...and birds, especially ground-foragers such as thrushes, grouse, blackbirds, and wild turkey.
When I see slugs present near my plants I put down a barrier of salt.
Madi, our Xena is like you in her multi-sof-surface comfort. I did name her Xena Schnauzer Warrior "Princess," so I guess the Princess and the Pea side of her is coming out.
