Symmetry Saturday

About 5 years ago JC Penney's was torn down...
This is what sits in JCP's location
Probably a multipurpose building
I miss JCP

Photo taken on our weekend ride about.
This is a home/castle it is huge
Copper gutters, downspouts, copper in the grooves on roof
copper over the arched windows.
There is still interior work and landscaping going on.

In case you are wondering, several years ago I took the header photo of the Eagle.
It was painted on what looked like driftwood.
It was the first thing anyone could see when they entered the building.
I knew I had it saved.  I was very happy to find it.

  1. Dearest Cecilia,
Tearing down a building is often a waste of money or capital destruction.
Living in such a private castle must be only for some true wealthy ones!
The use of copper for the roof and gutters is smart though.
Our roof is a Canadian concept of aged copper and we love it very much! https://mariettesbacktobasics.blogspot.com/2013/08/our-home-with-aluminum-interlock.html

I quite like that glas structure - something a little ship like about it... as for the second. More money than taste there... YAM xx

  4. Okay, so tell me are you getting a lot of loyalty moving into North carolina? Who else can afford these gigantic homes. And as far as the birds are concerned I'm not a fan of glass buildings of any kind. They are too dangerous.

  5. I do love the masonry work and arched windows. I don't get the downspouts on the front of the house. Around here and in MO they try to keep downspouts away from the front of the house. Who wants to look at downspouts. I guess they think of them as decorative. SSNS and I need to do some weekend and week day ride abouts. It's too HOT to walk about! Also not a fan of glass buildings because of birds. Enjoy seeing the homes from your ride abouts!

  6. I like the beautiful home so much more than the look of the multipurpose building.

  8. wow on the JCP replacement. our mall with penny's, Sears, Macy's and another big name that escapes me, four huge anchor stores and all the others between is still sitting empty, chains on the doors, 11 acres sitting there falling apart.
that house does look like a castle. hope it has servants, ha ha

  14. The header is beautiful, I'm glad you kept the photo, too.

I'd be afraid to live in a house like that!

  15. I miss our local JCP too. I think there's one a few miles from here at what was once called the biggest mall in TN. No thanks, LOL! And that's a great picture. We also remember and honor those who died fighting for our country.
