Thoroughly Poetic, Thankful Thursday #182 and Talk like a Pirate

Poetic Thursday hosted by our pals Teddy and Angel Sammy

Here is our challenge for today

Kittens

One is fine
Two are divine
At play time they will unwind.
and spin into a ball of fur

Two heads are
better than one.
Eight paws make
for mischief fun.

They discover having
a buddy to share secrets, snacks and a nap
Makes life a snap!!

Below is a photo of  Angel Madi and her litter mate Lucy. They were 2 months old. My brother in law adopted Lucy the same day we adopted Madi.

Thankful for dentist(s)...odd I know but my mouth has been a thorn in my side for years.
I truly have wonderful dentist(s) they are husband and wife..
Thursday September 12th at 6:30 pm the crown came off.  It is the anchor for my partial.  Most dentist in this area only work half a day or not at all on Fridays. I left mine a vm on Friday asking for first available appt on Monday September 16.
They saw me at 8:45 am.
My dentist was able to get all the old cement off the wisdom tooth with dental pick and a burr aka dental sand paper.  I opted for Novocain so that he could really get in there good.
He told me there are several options, should I eventually need implant(s).  I thought I'd need 4 implants...$$$$ the cost of an EV
Thankfully
#1.He said the most I'd ever need would be two
2. One at front and one at back then he would put a bridge over them
#2.two both closer to front w/o a bridge or #3. technically I didn't need implants but it would make chewing harder.  Fingers crossed the crown stays in place.

In 2013 this was our photo challenge.

His office is the deep dark sea.
He travels in the shadows of night by the tower light.
Looking for treasures and trinkets while
out of sight.
In the background, you hear screeching from the
pirate's Parrot
 Cap'n my Cap'n
look starboard (right) and you will see a landlubber
who is lost at sea. What an addlepate (fool) he be
out here on the open sea.
Fair winds my friends
til we meet again.

  1. The kittens are so sweet and the poem adorable.
The dental troubles less adorable. I hope the planned repairs work well without breaking the bank...
    Cheers, Gail.

  3. Such cute kittens and I love your poem.
Having a good dentist is so nice. I've always liked mine. His practice is now called sleep dentistry. I've actually never had more than nonvaccine but those who are more sensitive can sleep through their dental work. He also has a dog in the office to help calm peoples nerves. I think he goes by Dogtor Gizmo

  4. Teeth trouble is no good! Mom says teeth have gotten so much better over time. Almost all the adults and older people had false teeth when she was growing up. Now it doesn't seem like many do, and implants have been a blessing for many. Hope your new plan works out for you. Teeth are important, as is chewing. Mom remembers when her great aunt had the flu and when she threw up, her false teeth flew out and she flushed them without knowing. The poor woman had to to toothless until they had a new set of false teeth made for her. It was like 50 years ago, so it took a lot of time.

  5. Cecilia, what a thing with the tooth. I have 5 crowns and an implant. Hope my teeth hold out for a while with no more. It is such a challenge. Love the kitten poem and of course seeing Madi and her sister when they were babes. Keep brushing and crossing your fingers at the same time (if possible, lol).

  6. I am happy to hear they could put the cap back on and prayers it will stay there. my friend had implants 15 years ago and it cost 10,000 back then.
My brother uses a sleep dentist, like Ann mentioned. Madi was so cute, she was full grown before I met the two of you. good job on the poems and fitting both thankful and pirate day together.

  7. My back tooth implant (just finished) came to $5K. The front tooth one several years ago was $6K. AND, I still need to get another tooth crowned. Remember the tooth broke when eating a cookie!

Love the kittens, now imagine 5 of them. lol.... you know what I'm talking about.

  9. Dearest Cecilia,
Lovely poem and sweet memory of Angel Madi and her sister Lucy!
Good that you got your crown fixed as that is not a good feeling.
Never will I forget when we both were giving a seminar in Ireland and during coffee break with cookie, Pieter held his hand open and showed me his broken off tooth. That was so rough and hurt even when talking. He felt relieved when I took over for my part so he had a break. On the plane home he didn't speak a word as it was so rough and painful. He got helped right away by our then dentist and that was the end of his suffering...
Had my teeth cleaned yesterday morning at 9:00 AM and I've never had any toothache and still got all my biters...

  14. What a cute poem for those two kittens. Dental problems are no fun! We have our paws crossed that the crown stays put and you don't need any more work done.

  15. Oh what a precious photo of Madi and Lucy.....babies! Loved your poem too and all flashbacks from Pirate Day in the "old days". Teeth - I've resisted implants for YEARS. I'm missing teeth in the BACK of my mouth where nobody sees so I passed on implants. I also have a permanent upper bridge at the front of my mouth which is 30 years old and hanging in there. I'd like to have NO MORE dental work other than cleanings! Good luck with your "mouth project" dear girl!

    Hugs, Pam

  20. What a sweet memory of Madi and Lucy - first time we think we heard about Lucy. Mom just had dental issues too. Dentist sent her to an endodentist to see if she needed one, two, or three root canals. But it turns out she just has one extremely cantankerous and sensitive area. She can deal with it for now
