Words on Wednesday: Critique of lunch NOT at Seaboard

Thank you to our Hostess

Sandee at Comedy Plus

The views are of a parking lot.

Top left of collage is the outside of Village Deli
bonus an Ace hardware is now opened next door win win.
Top right is the outside dining area that has been enhanced with permanent brick wall and sliding windows.  It is fairly long too.
Not surrounded by flowers and garden art like it was at Seaboard.
Inside dining room has a very cozy decor lots of art.
We used to visit the Ace Hardware near Seaboard Cafe so this is a plus

Bryan ordered BLT said is was perfect
I ordered a tuna and pasta cold plate both were as good as I remembered. FOR some reason, they served them in two to go containers.  I would have preferred a plate.
The chairs are too low for the table. As you can see from the top right photo, the top of the chair is barely visible. The top of the table came to our chest. All chairs are that height.
 We'll adjust and will return.
Bryan summed it up best:  There are many good cafes all over Raleigh...but Seaboard was a Destination with excellent food and surroundings.

The area has many dining possibilities
Duck Donut on the left end, Butcher's Market and Chicken Salad Chick.

Hmmm, interesting... I quite like the corridor layout and I've seen worse parking lot scenery, but the chair to table ratio is weird; is that young folks these days just want to shovel their food and it lessens the work on their arms? And would plating of meals be an option? Perhaps they don't have the staff to collect used tableware? Oh the mind boggles!!! YAM xx

  2. Your meals look good. I hate when places have chairs that are too low for the tables.

  3. aah the chairs... that feels like alittle kidlet at a birthday party... at least you can see whats on the table...

  4. You will get used to it, or have fun trying different places. I dislike having food served on takeaway dishes so that would put me off right away. What's with the low down chairs too?

  5. You're a good restaurant reviewer! Chairs: ugh! View: ugh! Meal: nice! Meal served on: ugh! This sorta adds up to a: One Star Review

  6. I guess the fun of it now will be trying something new every week and seeing what becomes the next best place. This look like good food but I've noticed since kovan a lot of restaurants quit using real plates.

  7. I'm glad your food was good, at least! I'm short and when I'm sitting in a restaurant with low chairs, I feel like I need a booster seat! 🙄😆

  8. It is sad that your favorite place has closed but on the other hand, sometimes change is good. Now you will be out and about searching for your new favorite restaurant and you will find new things you didn't even know about.

  9. We have very few places to eat in this town. We've ruled out a couple because the food is not good. And, now the one or two with good food are so expensive.

  10. I say, next time have donuts for lunch 🍩🍩🍩🍩‼️‼️😺maybe they use “ to go”
containers to save on water from doing dishes ?.?

  11. We're sure you will find a new place to call your favorite. Until then we will enjoy getting regular reviews of the new places you visit.

  12. I don't think this will be your favorite place because of the table and chairs, but the food looks great. You'll find that perfect place that we'll all enjoy.

  13. OMC those chairs don't look inviting, so maybe that's why you got the 'to go' packages😹Love the header with angel Madi. Double Pawkisses for a Happy Day🐾😽💞

  15. To go containers means no dishes for them to wash. Next time, you could bring pillows to boost yourselves higher.

  16. At least you have lots of good options for lunch. Those chairs that are too low are now fun.

  17. I think it will be hard to find a place that is as good as Seaboard...but it will be fun trying!

  19. I am so short that when the table edge comes to my mid-chest, I expect it. I hate to too. I wish they had better chairs everywhere or adult booster seats!!!

  20. Oh well, as long as it tasted good. They could probably work on atmosphere and presentation, but we bet you can try lots more places and find a good one.

  22. If this is a place that just opened, the go plates might be because of lack of a dishwashing machine. A lot of new, small places can't afford one, even a used one, right away so they have two choices, throw away or hand wash using a harsh chemical sanitizer. Many opt for the disposables until they can afford dishes and a dishwasher.

As for the chairs, who knows, but there may be a logical reason.

  23. Good for you for trying somewhere new. You'll have to bring pillows to sit on to eat, LOL. I've been to restaurants that serve in "to go" containers too. It just cuts costs on paying someone to be a dishwasher.
