All 100 Counties in North Carolina are in severe drought status and under a no burn BAN. This year I decided to plant plastic flowers in the flower pots on our front porch. I was quite impressed with the selection of low maintenance plastic plants at Hobby Lobby. Now for a test there is one REAL plant in one of the pots
can you tell me which one is real? Answer at the end!!
The flower pot on top step is a fake Spider Plant
The flower pot on the bottom step contains a Fake ivy and a real Creeping Jenny. Creeping Jenny is a tough cookie. She has been living in that flower pot for eons. She goes dormant in the winter and OMCs she wakes up from a long nap in about March.
She and the fake ivy look quite happy together.

As per expected, it started off a tad mysterious.
Mom came in the kitchen to find me looking
a tad purrplexed!!
She thinks everything is a photo op so she ran for the flashy beast
She could tell by the intense look in my eyes there was indeed a
mystery.....but WHAT??
So she came closer to the sink to see what had me captivated
She COL (cackled out loud) when she saw a Cheerio on steroids floating in water.
She had the audacity (my $10.00 word) to say Madi it certainly doesn't take much to entertain you....to which I replied well evidently it entertained you too. MOL
The azalea is gorgeous & really pops of color in your yard! I don’t plant to plant anything this year! Dragging hoses in the heat was not fun last summer. I’ll get stay busy keeping the hummingbird feeders clean & full. Madi staring at the Cheerios cracks me up!!!😹😹😹

ReplyDeleteOh yes, the artificial plants are a great choice when real won't do... I have a couple of small ones in The Grey and they are amazingly effective. I did think your ivy would be, but was surprised by the spider plant! Loved that Madi memory.. YAM xx
Great idea to do artificial plants - no watering required and they just won't DIE! Madi's fascination with the cheerio is just so darn cute......sometimes it doesn't take much to entertain them (fortunately).

The azalea is beautiful. Our red azalea is in full bloom and I should take a photo before it starts to go over. All the others are quite a way behind. The white is usually last to flower in July. I did spot the real plant, but the fakes are very realistic. Creeping Jenny is called Moneywort here, but I prefer your name for it.

ReplyDeleteI'm really good with fake plants. Lol. I would not have guessed it was the spider plant! I've not seen a fake one here, in the one store I know of that sells artificial plants. Lots of other types of artificial plants, though. Now I'll have to look for a fake spider! I always over or under water real plants. 🙄

That azalea is absolutely gorgeous. I've planted a couple over the years but they've never survived.

That is the purpose of our sweet angels is to keep us humans entertained at all times. Of course mine sleep so much that there's very little entertainment here,. Sorry to hear about the drought because I thought you had rain or snow all winter. No drought up here we just got through a few days ago having floods. I love the Azalea and I'm so disappointed my neighbors didn't bother to cover theirs the other night because now they're gone
ReplyDeleteWe love the azalea, so pretty! Plastic plants outside never entered our minds but it may be a good idea if we can find some realistic flowering plants.

ReplyDeleteEven artificial plants wouldn't make it here in Southwest Florida's heat and burning sun. Your spider plant looks great! The Azalea is the star of the show!
