How to (not) Please a Diva

Earlier this year, a very dear friend of ours spun Madi's fur into yarn.  I used half of the yarn (gray rows) in this scarf I made for myself.

Last week I decided to use the remaining yarn from Madi's fur and some other left over yarn to make a mini afghan for Madi.  I just knew she would love the extra softness under her lovely tush......

WELL GUESS WHAT I WAS WRONG.
THIS IS MADI'S FIRST REACTION TO THE 'HAND MADE WITH LOVE AFGHAN'....

She looks as if she is saying....get that thing away from me....

Then she decides to give her fur (gray row) a
sniff.....
She carefully stepped around it

to place her tush on the corner of this very old and ragged towel which was not 'made with her Mom's loving hands'.  She glares at it for a moment....
Then turns her head in disgust!!!!
All owned by cats, know they don't like change and it takes them a while to warm up to things and yes maybe I was a little pushy...but this is not Madi's 'oh Mom thanks a ton for working your fingers to the bones to make me an afghan face'!!
I guess I'll give her a little time; however, if she doesn't warm up to it soon, I know one lady Doxie and Mom to two puppies who appreciate things made by me.

Soooo Madi, my dear, put that in your pipe and smoke it!!!  I'll keep you posted on the progress.
Sincerely,
MOM

I was oooohin' and awwwwwin' overs da beautiful blankie and then to sees Madi's reaction...well, I had to bust out laughin'. Juat a guess but maybe hers thinks dis is a form of cannibalism. You knows, her furs in a blankie. Kittehs always amaze me.

  7. Yep, we're like that too! The mom occasionally knits and will make little throws for us, but we mostly ignore them and lie on the carpet or a store-bought blanket. :-P

  8. Madi, my dear? You're so typical. I suppose you gave it a small hiss when it was presented to you too?!!! But, trust me...that pipe of yours is running low on burn time...either get off the 'pot' and smoke it...or you'll be sorry!

  13. One word to describe the Diva: Persnickety!

Maybe it doesn't smell like her fur any more and that's why she's suspicious.
Too bad, it is a cute and cozy work of love!

  14. Well, you can't expect a girl to get all giddy when that darn flashing beast is around, now can you?

  15. I think it's a beautiful afghan. I hope that Madi decides that it is the perfect place to park her lovely bum, soon. But, you know, my cats don't like new things either, at least at first. But, just let one try it, and it becomes a contest to see who is going to be next.

  16. Wow, I think that is pretty amazing that your friend made yarn out of MAdi's fur...or did I read that wrong? I've always said I could make another cat out of all the fur I get, but I guess a blanket is a more practical idea - LOL!!!

  22. This reminds me of a very funny story. So, you know my mom volunteers at the shelter where I was adopted. Well, a few years back they expanded one of the cat rooms (the cats are all free-roaming and not in cages). When they finally opened the door to the new space the cats just stared at it and refused to enter the new room. It seriously took 24 hours before any of them would venture into their new room!

  23. That is a really nice blanket you made. We sure hope Madi warms up to it because it would be a shame to hafta give it to someone else (Madi, are you listening???).

  25. Maybe Madi is wondering if you are hiding another cat in "her" house, you know...the blue one.

I suspect in the near future Miss Diva Madi will be adding more fur to the afghan in her way. But regardless of what Madi thinks we think it is beautiful.

I was in mid comment here last night when our cable company decided it would be a good time to shut things down to service the system. Oh well!
