Thursday Theme Song: by the Lovin' Spoonful

We thank Hootin Anni for creating and sponsoring

Mom and I have a good time finding songs and lyrics each week.  This past week Mom watched a PBS
program about pop songs of the 50's and 60's which was followed by a John Sebastian special.
Mom was elated to remember the Lovin' Spoonful songs of her youth. She had forgotten about today's song
Nashville Cats
until she watched the PBS special.  We'll start out today's post with a collage of Mom's favorite Cat, moi!!
**************
Nashville Cats: playin' clean as country water
Nashville Cats: playin' wild as mountain dew
Nashville Cats: been playin' sinc they's babies
Nashville Cats: It worked before there too

Well theres 1352 guitar pickers in Nashville
And they can pick more notes than the number of ants on a Tennessee anthill
Yeah, there's 1352 guitar cases in Nashville
And any one that unpacks a guitar can play twice as better than I will

Yes, I was just 13, you might say I was a musical proverbial knee-high
When I heard a couple new sounding tunes on the tubes and they blasted me sky high
And the record man said every one is a Yellow Sun record from Nashville
And up North here ain't nobody buys them and I said, BUT I WILL
AND IT WAS.......
Well, there's 16,821 mothers from Nashville
All their friends play music, and they ain't uptight if one of the kids will
Because it's custom made for any mother's son to be a guitar picker in Nashville
And I sure am glad I got a chance to say a word about the musice and the mothers from Nashville.
We hope you enjoy the below video of this song and lots of cute kitties.
Thanks for stopping by to say hi today!!

How to (not) Please a Diva

Earlier this year, a very dear friend of ours spun Madi's fur into yarn.  I used half of the yarn (gray rows) in this scarf I made for myself.

Last week I decided to use the remaining yarn from Madi's fur and some other left over yarn to make a mini afghan for Madi.  I just knew she would love the extra softness under her lovely tush......

WELL GUESS WHAT I WAS WRONG.
THIS IS MADI'S FIRST REACTION TO THE 'HAND MADE WITH LOVE AFGHAN'....

She looks as if she is saying....get that thing away from me....

Then she decides to give her fur (gray row) a
sniff.....
She carefully stepped around it

to place her tush on the corner of this very old and ragged towel which was not 'made with her Mom's loving hands'.  She glares at it for a moment....
Then turns her head in disgust!!!!
All owned by cats, know they don't like change and it takes them a while to warm up to things and yes maybe I was a little pushy...but this is not Madi's 'oh Mom thanks a ton for working your fingers to the bones to make me an afghan face'!!
I guess I'll give her a little time; however, if she doesn't warm up to it soon, I know one lady Doxie and Mom to two puppies who appreciate things made by me.

Soooo Madi, my dear, put that in your pipe and smoke it!!!  I'll keep you posted on the progress.
Sincerely,
MOM

Flat George's World Tour: Spring time w/ Madi

Flat George Came to live with us in Raleigh, NC, earlier this year.
Lucky pup had lunch with mom at her favorite Cafe too.
Now that it is Spring, Mom decided to show him around  our 'hood and our town.
George is sitting in front of our neighborhood sign.
There were some pretty flowers farther back but George was teeny tiny.  Real George is a Welsh Terrier and quite this cat's meow!!!
George posed at our front door just before
coming in to say Hi ya!!
George: Hi ya, Madi are ya taking a cat nap?
Madi: Greetings George.  Is Mom keeping you busy
flitting about the 'hood?
George: Madi did you know there was a black cat on your porch?
Madi: Yes but she doesn't eat much so it is ok.  George
your curly tail is very cute!!! It kind of matches mine.  MOL
George: What about the cat under your red maple tree?
Madi: Oh she has a metal rod through her head she can't go anywhere

George:  I really like your purple gazing ball in the ivy.
Madi:  Ah yes that comes in handy when I need to go back to the future.  MOL

George: Cameron Village Shopping Center was very nice and pet friendly. I saw several 2 leggers walking their K9s.  I kind of wanted to have my picture made with them but your Mom said she had a better idea....
George:  Just before your peeps had lunch at a nice cafe in this building, they took this picture of me with a great big wolfie.
And last but not least a picture of George in his signature
pose on our S T E P S
Flat George is a very good house guest.  No trouble at all
so we're going to take him on more excursions later this summer.
George the Lad and his Mum have a very nice blog too.

Sincerely,
Madi and Mom
