RESCUE ME WEEK FINALE!! PATRICK

HAPPY VETERAN'S DAY TO ALL WHO HAVE SERVED AND ARE SERVING THIS GREAT COUNTRY.

TODAY IS THE BIG FINALE TO ONE FANTASTIC
EVENT, RESCUE ME WEEK
HOSTED BY THE MOST BEAUTIFUL MAYZIE  CLICK HERE TO READ ALL ABOUT THIS PURRFECT EVENT IN MEMORY OF MAYZIE'S GRANDPA J.

Today's featured handsome Senior mancat is Patrick at Second Chance Pet Adoption.
He is listed under 'overlooked pets' http://www.secondchancenc.org/RP_WebDoc.asp?ttid=98
because of his age and a few Senior kitty health issues, one being IBD (irritable bowel disease, under control with the correct diet).  My human Sister's kitty, Harley has IBD, AND WE KNOW firsthand it is manageable WITH DIET and should not be an issue!!

PRESENTING PATRICK (DON'T YOU JUST LOVE THAT NAME)!!
MOM CUT AND PASTED A LETTER FROM PATRICK BELOW.
IF YOU READ THE FIRST FEW SENTENCES YOU WILL FALL
IN LOVE WITH HIM.

Patrick Status: Adoptable (adoptable)

ID: C05-0108R Animal's location: Feline Foster Home
Breed: Tabby - Grey-Domestic Medium Hair (mix)
Age: 10 years Gender: Male
Altered: yes
Description: My name is Patrick and I am a very regal looking gentleman. I have luxurious soft hair and wear it well! I like to let me people wear it too!! Let me explain........I like to curl up on your shoulders and be real close to you. When I am in position you will look like you have a beautiful scarf on! That is one of my favorite places to be when the volunteers come to feed and clean the adoption center.

I have a couple of issues with my health that are under control but you need to know about. I do have IBS but it is very well under control when I eat my grain free food. The people here at Second Chance can tell you where to buy it and it isn't very expensive. I also have a mild heart condition which is also well controlled when I take my pill every day. Most days I gobble it up in a pill pocket. My new family will need to just have my heart monitored at my annual exam to make sure my pill is doing its job.

I am still a very active kitty at times. I LOVE to play and am super fast! If you get one of those wand toys out and I will chase it around all day! I also am great with a scratching post! I am not like some cats who walk all over counters and tables. I like to stay on the ground except for the times when I will come up and lie next to you for snuggles. I do okay with other cats but would really rather not have to share your attention. If there is a cat or dog in my new home I will probably just ignore them.

I sure hope that between my issues I mentioned above and my age it won't stop you from coming to meet me! I promise that I will make up for all of my "drawbacks" with nonstop love and kisses,

Love, Patrick

THURSDAY THEME SONG: CECILIA

Mom and I thank Hootin' Anni for sponsoring

If you think I'm hiding from Mom, you would be correct...you'll see
why very soon!!!
Today's featured song was written by Paul Simon in 1970 for the Simon and Garfunkel album Bridge Over Troubled Waters.
In case you didn't know, my Mom's name is CECILIA.
BUT she was NOT named after this song (she was 21 when this song was written).  Mom was named after St. Cecilia, Patron Saint of musicians!! OH and FYI verse 3 of this song will not be written on the blog for obvious reasons. MOL

Now for the song lyrics and why I'm hiding....incriminating pictures of Mom aka Cecilia to follow.

Cecilia, you're breaking my heart
You're shaking my confidence daily

Mom at age 6
I'm down on my knees
I'm begging you to please come home
 Mom at age 10

Jubliation, she loves me again
I fall on the floor and I'm laughing
Jubliation, she loves me again
I fall on the floor I'm laughing

 Mom at age 16

Please click on the below video to hear Simon and Garfunkel singing Cecilia live in 2008.
(and if you listen closely you might here verse 3 that was omitted, MOL)
Mom says to tell you YES she has had this song sung to her more times than you
could ever imagine.  When she was still working the UPS man used to come down the hall
singing it!

THANK YOU FOR YOU VERY KIND COMMENTS ABOUT MOM'S GREAT BLUE HERON PHOTO YESTERDAY.  SHE SAID IS WAS PURE LUCK AND GOOD TIMING

DOUBLE WOW WEDNESDAY

Mom and Dad abandoned me yesterday

They went to Lake Raleigh to see

Some very beautiful fall colors....and a bonus sighting..

A CLOSE UP VISIT WITH A MR. GREAT BLUE HERON.  MR. HERON WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF HIS MORNING YOGA ROUTINE OF BALANCING ON ONE LEG

THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN HE GREW TIRED OF AN AUDIENCE AND TOOK OFF ACROSS THE LAKE.  MOM SAID HIS WING SPAN WAS QUITE IMPRESSIVE.  IF YOU LOOK CLOSELY, YOU'LL SEE HIS SHADOW REFLECTING IN THE WATER

DAD TOLD MOM WAS PRETTY DARN EXCITED WHEN SHE SAW MR. HERON...AND YOU KNOW WHAT THEY SAY HAPPY WIFE, HAPPY LIFE!!
MOM HAS MORE COLORFUL PICTURES...DON'T WORRY I'M SURE SHE'LL BE EAGER TO SHARE THEM WITH YOU.
***********************
PS...WHILE MOM AND DAD WERE OUT YESTERDAY,THEY WENT BY THE FARMER'S MARKET. MOM BOUGHT 9 POUNDS OF COLLARDS.  SHE SPENT YESTERDAY AFTERNOON CLEANING AND COOKING THEM.  NOW THEY ARE IN THE FREEZER WAITING  TO BE CONSUMED ON THANKSGIVING.   IF SHE MISSED STOPPING BY TO SEE YOU YESTERDAY, SHE'LL CATCH UP TODAY.

TASTY TUESDAY W/ SUGAR

It is Tuesday so it must be
With Sugar
Last week I was NOT tasting ice cream.  Mom was surprised to learn that I don't like ice cream.
This week I'm in the kitchen with Mom snoopervising as she makes
her famous marinara sauce.  Many folks get freaked out by the thoughts of moi on the counter but
as you can see I'm very mannerable. I sit on the side counter while Mom prepares the sauce.

I wait patiently by the electric skillet until all the lovely aromas start to whiff from the vent. Once I have determined she has just the right blend of spices, I give it the Madi sniff of approval.
I move on to the area right about the skillet to see if per chance any of the sauce has splashed up here.
It is very important to keep the kitchen tidy and all spills wiped up!!
Once I have determined Mom has everything under control, my work is done.  Unfortunately Mom did
not get a picture of my dismount because I was too quick.  I gracefully jumped from the counter,  to the bar stool to the floor.
Cooking 101 with Mom went smoothly.  She was an attentive student, followed my directions, kept the kitchen tidy as she cook and most importantly made another delicious meal.  I guess I'll give her an A.
Sincerely,
Madi
