IF A TREE FALLS....

SO THE ANSWER TO YESTERDAY'S QUESTION
IF 7 TREES FALL IN MY YARD WILL YOU HEAR THEM?
NO
And we will tell you why.
Due to the size and location a crane is used
to lift sections of trees as they are cut.
Pictures to follow of trees and what I did
during all the sawing noise. As soon as the door
bell rang at 8 am, I turned on my High beams waiting to see
who was at my door.

It was a tree monkey telling my peeps he was here to climb in my trees

The sawing in the front got loud so I adjourned to
my peeps bedroom.  The trees in front and on the side
were not as tall as in back. They came down quickly.
My curiosity got the best of me, I had to peep around the door
NOW FOR THE FUN PART

The tree monkey is hoisted to the tippy
top of the 87 million foot trees by the crane.
He has on all kinds of safety harnesses.
(And a hard hat WHICH by the WAY will not protect his
noggin if a tree falls on it.)
He is lowered into the top of the tree.
These pictures were taken through the skylight
the speck under his foot is just a leaf on the skylight
Once tree monkey has securely attached the crane
lift and belt to the top of the tree he does the monkey
shuffle down about 1/2 way.  Then makes the first cut
the crane lifts the tree away

Then tree monkey attaches the crane.
Tree monkey does the monkey shuffle down the tree
The last cut is made at the ground.
This is the tree being lifted off the ground over our
skylight around the side to the street.

While my peeps watched this process 2 more times
I decided it was safe to go back into my den

Which is where mom found me.  She actually expected me to
pose for her.  But I showed her who was boss of me....ME!!
I am thrilled to report the entire process only took 2 hours,
the tree monkey and his fellow monkeys were all safe and efficient
Mom said everyone had a job and they did it.  They even
used tree monkey sign language.  They could not hear each other
so they had to talked with hand signals.
Now our home is safe from falling 87 million foot trees
and the peeps no longer have to lie awake during storms
listening to the trees creak...wondering if this will be the night
one falls on the house.
The largest tree stump measured 35"

  4. Wow, those tree monkeys are really efficient. They made taking the trees away look easy. But Madi, how could your Mom leave you all alone like that. Next time the tree monkeys show up you can come stay at our house.

  5. Great post and pics! Our Mommy says she would have been with you in the study, behind that chair. She hates loud noises and big jobs like that.

  6. Wow, that must have been so exciting Madi. A tree crushed a car on our street a couple of years ago - we think your Mom is wise to protect the house.

  9. Wow, that looks like quite an operation. Glad it all went well and none fell on the house. Good idea Madi to steer clear of all those goings on. Hope you all have a great tree less week end.

  11. Hey Madi, we LOVED your post today!! Glad to hear that all the tree monkey's stayed safe. That is a very dangerous job; one not for the faint of heart.

We completely understand the sound of creaking tree's. Our NY house is surrounded by trees and during storms we hate the sound they make. We've had a few of them come down and were very afraid. We have a tree monkey we use and you should see him shimmy up the tree. Pretty impressive. Mommy said she's scared to go back to NY because every time we lose a tree, it requires a lot of work. And bcuz our trees are all old, we're sure many of them came down during the harsh winter.

We think you were VERY brave during this process. With all that open space now, you can plant some very pretty flowers!

    Hugs,
    Lily Belle & Muffin

  12. That tree monkey is either brave or crazy. That sure was quite a ride he took on the crane.

  13. Very wise of your peeps Madi! About 10 years ago we had all our big trees removed. We replaced them with Cherry trees, crepe myrtles, plum and crabapples. They are big now but not a threat in the storms and just gorgeous in the springtime. Sadly our neighbor didn't do the same and one of his got our yard and house in the last hurricane… but it's all better now and he's removed about half of his tall trees. 35 inches is a big tree, it could do a lot of damage and believe me you DO hear it fall if the tree monkeys aren't there haha!

  14. oMD OMD Furst we have Squirrels to worry about NOW we hear about TREE MONKEYS??? Tree STEALING Monkey, no less. THAT is sort of TERRIFYING we think. AND they can read their own Super Secret Tree Monkey Sign Language, you say? OMD OMD this is just STUNNING. Ernie and I BOTH dribbled a little when we "SAW" the tree going over your HOUSE.

  16. Wow, that was interesting .. but tree monkey would be not really a job for me, that looks dangerous how this guy sits in your tree like a squirrel. I'm not even able to watch that, I better will wait with you in your den till it is over. Have a monkey-free friday and a fabulous weekend

  20. That was pretty amazing to see! We're glad it didn't take too long and that you're now safe from falling trees. Raz says he should have teleported over to hold your paw during the process. We're waiting for the big cutdown to start here today.

  22. We were amazed at how quickly they took down our huge (dead) pine tree. Mom was glad that they pulverized the stump too. WE didn't think they would but they did and now it's like the tree never was there. Wow that was interesting how they used cranes. The guys here just skimmied up the tree and cut it down. Then a whole team of men took the pieces away. It was amazing how efficient they were and how nicely they left everything. Glad all the buzzing is all over now Madi and you can have a peaceful and safe from any future storm day!

  23. Wow! How cool was that! Our mom has been taking down trees on our dinky little property too this year but she's been using a dinky little saw compared to your big crane! Yippee for safe houses! Purrs...

  24. that would have been fascinating to watch, but kinda scary too. Mom is afraid of heights and seeing that tree monkey flying around kinda gave her the whilleys!

  29. That was interesting to see the way they took the trees down. My dad used to take trees down when he was younger. I think he might be a monkey too because he used to climb up them to saw them off in lengths, but he never did it with a crane.

  30. Phew! We are glad you survived this harrowing experience, Madi!
Wow, 7 trees in 2 hours!! They worked fast!
(I wondered what that was under the tree monkey being lifted by the crane! LOL)
No more worries from ice or wind storms in the winter!
