TUESDAY TALE OF 2 BOXES

Top of this Tuesday Morning to you all!
I'd like to share a non-fiction story about 2 boxes.
This story began 15 years ago but since that was BM (before Madi)
I'll start where I left off on July 4, 2014.
If you missed that spine tingling story click here
I spent my morning watching my peeps plant a new mail box and post.  I must admit they made fast, efficient work of the planting too.

This is one scary picture of our  BM (before Madi) mailbox.
It was a trusted and true friend and kept our mail safe and dry..
but alas it was time for it to be put out to 'pasture'.
As you can see the mailbox platform was about to fall of the post...
in fact when Dad gave the post one tug the box went kerplunk
on the street.  Mom has 'old' on the picture to cover up
the avian poop.
1
Mom and Dad decided to plant the new post on July 4th since there is no mail delivery and it would give the cement time to set.
It is ok if you MOL/BOL/LOL. It was as funny looking in person as in the photo.  After dad tried 87 million times
to get it level, he was successful so he braced it from 4 sides before pouring the cement.
2
He removed the braces at 7pm on Friday
We are happy to report it is officially up and in use.
We rec'd our very first mail delivery on 7/5/14.
Dad spent the last 3 weeks priming and painting the post.
FYI: watching paint dry in a humid climate is very very boring.
We hope the avian population will refrain from pooping on
the shiny gold ball.

  1. We bet those birds are even more attracted to it. MOL!
Very smart of your Dad to do this project on a no-delivery day.

Happy Tuesday to our favorite tuxie.

  4. It is a most handsome post and box Miss Madi. We do so love American post boxes with their little red flag thingys - we don't have post boxes like that here, in fact we don't even have a post box at our house because we don't get street delivery, instead mom has to schlep in to the actual Post Office where we have a box and collect our post from there.
Tell dad we say "good job"

Maybe if you WAX the pretty Knob at the top... the Birds will Slide off before they can poop... or at least the Poops would slide off. Birds are sort of RUDE about where they poop. BUTT we Digresss...

  18. Madi, your dad did a fine job planting that new mail holder! And good thing he sunk it cement so it will not blow away during a...ahem...hurricane. And yes, watching paint dry in a humid climate is a long and boring process!

  19. Madi, your Dad did a fantastic job with the mail box! We agree with Frankie about the birds being very rude about where they poop. We even get fly by bombs - just rude!

  21. You could ask your Dad to hang some old CDs above the mail box. Apparently bird don't like that!

We're still looking at the long walk from the house to the mailbox....

  24. You know, you can SAY that BM stands for "Before Madi", but every time I see those initials I think of something way different...I think you know what I mean.

I have to periodically clean off the top of my mailbox because it is under the tree and the birds like nothing more than pooping on it. It's really amazing to me that there is all that ground to poop on and yet birds manage to hit even the smallest target. I think they do it on purpose.

  26. Madi you can count on a bird parking its feathery butt on that pretty gold ball! And that is a very pretty and well planted mailbox. It wouldn't last a week on The Tiny Ten.. peeps like to be artistic on our country road and redesign the appearance of mailboxes.
