A Tale:Things that go Flush in the Night

To protect the dignity of all involved this is a

 RE-ENACTMENT OF A TRUE EVENT
Cast of Characters:
Dad as Dad,
Madi as Dad's helper,
Mom as Old Bozo*
*my sis used to call mom Old Bozo when she was a wee lass.

I told Frankie and Ernie about this..after they finished rolling on the floor BOLing
they said you must tell this to blogville.  I consulted Mom... she replied there are no pictures.
It is only funny with pictures.  Then she said out loud P I Z A P!!!
Here goes:

At 11:30 pm on Sunday night (1/24/16) we were all sleeping when all of a sudden Mom, who is a very light sleeper, heard the toilet in the 1/2 bath start "ghost" flushing. That normal means just a tad of water in the tank is seeping back into the bowl and a new flapper is needed. Mom was hoping it wouldn't happen again.  She was almost asleep when swish.....there it goes a 2nd time. Dad was still snoring peacefully.  (FYI: In 1988 he slept soundly as a Tornado passing over our street, another true story for another time).   Within just a few minutes it happened a 3rd time.  My sweet mom turned into a crazed *Old Bozo, hollering to the top of her lungs she sweetly asked Dad...DID you hear that?   Dad replied what?  Ohhhh was that the wrong reply!!??  Now it is nearly 1 am.  Dad is up, mom is up and yours truly got up to what was the cause of the commotion.  Lo and behold I saw Dad lying on floor trying to turn off the valve (red arrow) this diva decided it was time to snoopervise...(not).   Well the valve was stuck...even WD40 would not loosen it.  By now Old Bozo was at her wits end; however, for some reason she decided to flush it and for some reason it quit running. The humans went back to bed...

Remember no real photos only man I could find in Pizap was a man dressed to go to work. MOL MOL.
Although at 1 am Dad's facial expression was pretty much exactly like this

BUT THIS FELINE WAS WIDE AWAKE and for those who don't have the pleasure of sharing your home with a FELINE...when a feline is awake .....THE ENTIRE house is awake!!
I will not say the following is true or not true...

OLD BOZO here: trust me when I tell you Madi was up and down on the bed.  Walking over my head, head butting my face, blowing puffs of sweet kitty breath in my ears, and purring at 25 decibels.  Each time she landed on the bed with the thump of a baby elephant.  Even though we all know she is very light on her feets!! Who knew an 11.8 lb cat could be so heavy.  I finally had to put her in 'timeout' in another room!  She was quite annoyed with this relocation!
I called the plumber the next day...I had him replace the flapper in all 3 bathrooms and check
them for any other problems.

THAT IS MY STORY AND I'M STICKING TO IT
Sincerely
Old Bozo, Old Gray Mare and sometimes just Mom
ONE other question why do these things like smoke alarm batteries dying and ghost flushing happen in the wee hours of the morning?

  4. My human would have slept through that all! Apparently there was a train going past our hotel this weekend, but she never heard it once while she was asleep!

  5. Is there maybe a ghost in the house who used the toilet? That would eggs-plain the non-sleeping Diva too... we anipals have a sense for ghosts... but I'm not sure if ghosts need a bathroom from time to time... I always thought the need no food... a miracle... better call the ghostbusters :o)

  8. HAHAHAHAHA......well Madi, BRAVO that your Mom just went ahead and had the flappers replaced in all of the toilets so she can GET SOME SLEEP without ghost flushing happening (we have there here too!).........and also BRAVO that you snoopervised Dad from the top of the toilet while he tried to close the valve on the waterfall that was the toilet. Seems to me that your contributions to this earth shaking event were MUCH OVERLOOKED!

    Hugs, Sammy

  9. That is hysterical. When our Mom gets up in the middle of the night, we are just sure it is time to eat. Glad all the toilets are fixed now so you all have more peaceful nights.

  22. Oh no, that is the sort of story that is hilarious when told to someone else, not so funny when it is happening to you!
Don't know who we feel sorriest for, Mum, Dad or Madi :)

  23. BOL! That's funny stuff. Those things always happen at the WORST pawsible times. Momma had a crying breakdown the last time the smoke alarm battery started beeping, because it really happened at the worst time and she just couldn't do one more thing!

  27. Sorry but that is funny cuz it happened at YOUR house and not ours!! And your mom did an excellent PIZAP job at the reenactment! But why did you have to suffer Madi? You got evicted for something not even your fault!!

    Keep Calm & Bark On!

  28. Oh no! That's funny! The mom woulda just closed the bathroom door and tried to ignore the flushing toilet...and wait until morning to deal with the problem.

    ReplyDelete
  29. That is a funny story. It isn't right that you got a time-out though. Our fire alarms are always doing that beeping at night too.

  30. So our Mom wasn't the only one who didn't get much sleep last night! Glad yours was caused by a ghost flusher and not something worse. We have one of those and Mom keeps forgetting to buy that new flapper. It seems like that happens way too often too.

Hope your Mom and our Mom both have better nights tonight.

  32. Our Mom sleeps thru everything. Where as Dad is up real quick. But you know the simple answer to as to why everything breaks at night is because it can and it will.
