TMfMM*

*Tuesday Mews from Manor Madi
ps this was gonna be Monday Mews but regular MMfMM was  preempted.
Subtitle Matthew
Sub-subtitle: Tree Rats
This is how I spent the morning of November 5...
(and FYI:  I told Dad I'd sit on the check until he was sure he was happy with the tree rats work!
Now for the rest of the story
As everyone remembers in early October, Hurricane Matthew huffed and puffed and blew sideways crazy rain here at Manor Madi. Matthew was not invited and not a welcomed guest.
Thank goodness out house did not blow away but
Matthew blew the very tippy top limb out of the top  of a
ginormous maple tree.  Thank goodness the limb fell
in the middle of the tree  but was hanging on by a small piece of wood.....NOT ON Manor Madi

The peeps called our tree rats immediately but they were so
very busy removing trees off homes etc they asked if we could
wait for a few weeks.  Of course when the tree rats come here
we have to document it.  In the below photo they are getting
their ropes out and putting on their tree rat gear.
The red arrow below is pointing to a tiny orange dot
that is one of the tree rats helmets
The blue arrow is the rope he is taking up to the tippy top of the
tree to tie around the limb
Below are the tree rats ground crew waiting to guide
the limb down safely
We were happy to get this limb down it was dead and the peeps
wanted it down before the cold winds of winter or ice and snow arrived.
The End!!

PS...on Gas Log service man, yesterday's post...
Many of you said yesterday how how refreshing that someone actually did their job well.  On top of telling the Gas Log service tech how impressed they were sit his service, she also mailed a letter to the Gas Company human resources department telling them how pleased they were. He told my peeps he liked what he did, and that he was trained to clean the logs at every visit.  Hopefully the letter will be put in his personnel file and maybe one day he'll get a nice promotion.

  3. I was a bit worried when you started talking about tree rats, but they were not the kind I was expecting at all. Good thing the branch is out of the tree. Don't want anything falling on your home!

  4. You sure had a good crew of tree rats helping you get rid of that big old branch! YAY! Also a very big YAY to the gas service guy who cleaned your fireplace logs up.....it was a VERY KIND thing for your Mom to write a letter to his boss - maybe he will get promoted - you never know! It's nice when you find someone these days who (a) loves their job and (b) does it RIGHT.

    Hugs, Sammy

  17. Looks like they did a good job. A couple years ago, Dad cut off a huge branch from our gigantic silver maple tree. We felt the ground shake when it fell!

  18. Do those tree rats have big whiskers and why are they yellow. Thank goodness we don't have those ginormous tree rats here. Keep an eye on them

  26. Glad those tree rats took care of business so the Madi Manor will be safe for the winter. And what a good deed your Mom did for that nice man - hope he does get some nice reward for going above and beyond, just like your Mom.

  29. Complimenting someone on a job well done is nice to read about!! So many just don't take the time to reciprocate common courtesies any more.

I bet you're glad to have it removed by now. I'm sure it was becoming an eyesore.

  30. Madi, you're always up to something new!

  31. Glad that limb was taken down before it fell down on it's own. My dad used to climb up to the top of trees to take them down bit by bit when he was younger.

  32. I find those tree rats to be pretty scary sweet Madi.

  33. That was smart of your folks to get that removed.

  34. Those are the good kind of tree rats. Looks like they did a good job and you are now safe from worrying about that falling in your yard or worse falling on the house.
