Nature and Feline Friday

While on a recent trip around town, we drove by a different section of Crabtree Creek.   My eyes were scanning the creek for photo opts.  All of a sudden, I saw a huge wing span on a branch.  Luckily no traffic behind us so were were able to pull over.  First photo out of the camera. Notice a tiny gray dot in the center of the photo about 3/4's of the way down.... No you don't see it scroll down to the next photo that I cropped.

Of course by the time I was out of the car ready to snap he tucked in his wings and drew his very long neck in I guess to hide.

It is a Great Blue Heron arrows pointing toward it.  Wing span amazing

Friends be prepared to giggle uncontrollably

I thank our hostess Comedy Plus

  2. Birds can be so disobliging when it comes to having their photo taken. Perhaps I could offer lessons in posing?

  3. We have herons who fly down onto our neighbour's carp lake. They are very well fed even though he put a fence all around to stop them wading in. I think they have learned to land on the very small island that the wild duck sleep on at night.
It is nice to see the boys having a wrassle.

  4. It's been a while since mom and dad saw one of them guys. They used to see them all the time on Greenfield Lake in Wilmington. Oh, and so you know- the noisy nights are due to me and my restlessness. I just don't seem settled here, and I make all kinds of yowling noises between 1:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. All I want is company, and if I don't get in bed with them and one of them comes out to the living room, I settle right in with them and fall asleep. Not sure what's going on.

  11. That is quite the find in your neck of the woods I think. I haven't seen a blue one in a long time but I see white ones. Rocky and Cat make me smile so big it hurts my face every time I see them together. To me it's a miracle that they love each other like they do and it's a good thing they have a mama who can teach them to get along and knew exactly what to do

  12. Oh we have many of those at our marina and all over the delta. They are most fun to watch fish for their dinner.

I love the video. That was timed perfectly.

  19. Those herons are really big! We haven't seen them quite yet here in WNY. But another big bird has been migrating through these parts: the turkey vulture. We've seen lots and lots of Canada geese flying over too. I remember a time when seeing any kind of large bird was almost miraculous!

  20. I can't seem to catch a photo of the heron in the river behind the house either! Your shot is so much better one than I have been able to capture. They are amazing when they fly! They always make me think of Pterodactyls! Thanks for stopping by and visiting and have a marvellously Happy Day!
