Sparks and Awww Monday

Photo from my friend and roving photo journalist, Janice.  Her niece in Burlington, NC (about 50 miles west of Raleigh)sent her this photo of a deer she often sees in her yard. At first glance, I thought the deer had his back right foot lifted.
Janice told me the deer's foot is missing.  An animals ability to
adjust is Awww inspiring.

So I enlarged it.  The deer is in mid step but OMCs when I enlarged it my mind's eye saw....this do you see it?

In case you didn't already know, my mind's eye always has a part-ee in progress.

  1. I'm afraid the red deer living in abundance in the Torridon area didn't get the memo about looking both ways before you cross the road! Hence they are the most common cause of car accidents in the area in winter when they come down from the hills.
    Cheers, Gail.

  5. I'm seeing an arrow, not the red one. I think the advice from the deer is wise!

  7. Those deer can live with some really bad injuries. We've seen several here that were still up and going despite whatever happened to them.

  8. That is great advice from the deer. That is quite an injury for a deer to survive.

  10. When we lived in the mountains of northern California on 10 acres we saw lots of deer and enjoyed their company. It was always so sad when one would get injured or worse by cars. Look both ways and have a great week!

  12. We've never seen a three-legged deer before! (And we do see that face on the side.) We have a lot of deer around these parts, and we have to be very careful driving at night because of them.

  13. We feel so sad for the deer. In our neighborhood, we don't think she'd do too well with all of the wildlife. They're so pretty.

  16. Animals adapt to their injuries so much better than humans can.

  17. Love the SPARK......and that deer missing part of its' leg is amazing - it's carrying on even though something happened to it either at birth, or courtesy of a trap, or a hunter. Life has gone on for this deer and THAT is most inspirational.

    Hugs, Pam

  19. I'm the same, such as picture of things in the clouds. And yes, I do see the big cat's face! I feel bad for the deer, guessing it may have been a bear trap that snapped off that foot.
