Happy Tuesday: Fun Facts with Rocky

We thank our Hostess Sandee at Comedy Plus

Dear Auntie HiC,

THE REST OF THE STORY

This episode of “Fun Facts with Rocky” is concerning your post on June 11, about the “Little Girl” statue  in Cameron Village in Raleigh.

I found it enchanting & quickly set out to know more about this precious piece of art.  After a quick Google search this is what I learned.

Unfortunately, the sculpture is out of our price range & not available in the United States. 😹

I would love to know how this adorable young lady found her way to Raleigh. I wonder if she likes grits! 😹

💓💞
Your ginger nephew Rocky

Dearest Rocky I too found the little girl precious. It is so life like and her facial expressions amazing.  The braid looks so real, the lace on the dress was so delicate.  Hard to believe it was all bronze.  ‼️Thank you ‼️for the you are an excellent researching.  MOL MOL YOU ARE A FUN-gi. When Auntie HiC was working with international students, the first thing many of them asked about was G R I T S...I kept a supply of Instant Grits in my office (Cheddar Cheese flavored) and of course grits must have butter.  I often made a bowl for any who were brave.  I was quite impressed that most tried them, some liked them, so did not but they TRIED.
As for the little girl liking them, I bet our friends don't know this fun fact about what GRITS means:

Girls

Raised

In

The

South

 Lovingly your Auntie HiC

  1. Those are interesting facts about the statue, Rocky.
I have never had grits. I have seen them when we used to go the the breakfast buffet during cruises but the name always put me off trying them. We always go to the restaurant for breakfast now and I have Eggs Royale with a mimosa!! It's all included so why not push the boat out, so to speak!

Well, that was interesting... And this amateur sleuth would be asking questions! It really is a sweet statue. YAM xx

  3. GRITS, yummy, yes if drenched in butter (real butter) ... tho admittedly, not sure if I'd want to butter-up cheddar cheese grits, that seems contradictory.

  4. No grits for our Mom but she has always been a picky eater and now with her crazy food plan she came up with, most food is not on her list. She tried grits once years ago but didn't like them.

  5. Rocky, you are quite the gentleman to find out the facts on this lovely statue. Precious is quite impressed with your ability. Lynn is a northerner and she's not willing to eat grits. Not even when she lived in Lexington Kentucky where they are a staple.

  6. Thanks for the additional information about that delightful statue Rocky. That would be way out of my price range too.
Being a yankee girl, I've never had grits.

  7. Instant Grits is not REAL grits, to be delicious it needs to be cooked and cooked and stirred and stirred. I do eat the fake grits but it taste nothing like real grits. in fact today bob and I had fake grits, with and egg stirred in and shred cheese. put in bowl, add half cup water, stir one egg into it, zap 2 minutes, sprinkle with favorite cheese. yum. the statue is one I would love to have but wwwayyyyy out of my price

  9. Rocky, you're an excellent researcher, it's terrific to have more information on that statue! Alas, she would be far out of my price range too!

I've never had grits, would be willing try them, perhaps. Though my gut is intolerant to corn, so the after effects wouldn't be fun
    😄

  10. Thanks for the info about that cute sculpture. My parents have never tried grits. They probably have some in the grocery store, but they're not going to look for it. BOL!

  11. Very interesting about the girl with the umbrella. Rocky that is a very sweet picture of you... very handsome you are.
Grits... I love them. Just about any old way but no cheese. But first choice way to eat them... lots of buttah, salt and pepper—thank you! If they could just come without carbs.

  12. Love that statue and I would love to have her in my yard. Beautiful.

Love the grits part. Hubby loves grits and I do not. I don't care how you dress them up, they just are tasteless to me. I'm more southern than not though.

Thank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Happy Tuesday. Love and hugs to Auntie C and Kit and scritches to all the precious kitties. ♥

  16. This would be well out of my price range, too, but it is beautiful. As for grits, they are the carrier grain, as I call it, same as rice or oatmeal or cream of wheat. You aren't eating them for their taste, but because it's not correct to sit down to a plate of butter or to drink gravy!

  17. I’m thoroughly enjoying the comments on grits, and yes, they are indeed an acquired taste! 😹

  18. Nice to learn about that sweet girl. We have some very old statues of children with flowers and dogs in our front landscape beds. But they are looking pretty shabby these days. Mom has been on the hunt for a few years now to replace them but she can only find really $$$$ ones. These were from a Target or Walmart type store. She just doesn't want to toss them just yet.

  19. That is a beautiful statue, and, while out of range for many of us for a decoration, it looks like it is worth every penny. I used to eat instant grits when I lived in PA, and I loved them!

  22. She is absolutely beautiful! Thank you for sharing her. I took to grits like a duck takes to water :) sending hugs!

  23. Pretty statue but oooh la la she's not an inexpensive young lady is she!! A mini-sculpture would be nice though and a lot cheaper.
