Thank you
Dear Auntie HiC,
Did you know Kermit the Frog turned 70 years old this year?
Kermit was created in 1955 and was originally performed by Jim Henson.
Henson created the original Kermit by using an old green coat belonging to his mother and two ping pong balls. Below is the photo of the original Kermit.
Henson described Kermit as an extension of his own personality, characterizing him as “easy going, likable, sometimes a wiseguy, with wry intelligence.”
Kermit’s generally calm but sometimes frazzled personality makes him very relatable for children as they navigate their own feelings and experiences.
Kermit’s iconic line, “It’s not easy being green”, is a metaphor for the challenges in life, and teaches children to embrace who they are, even when things are difficult.
Kermit even has his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame!
As Miss Piggy would say, “Happy Birthday, Kermie”!
Enjoy this song that Kermit sang at Henson’s funeral.
😉
❤️ Rocky
Dearest Rocky Auntie HiC did not know how Kermit was created or the facts about his purrsonality. Favorite Sissy of Angel Madi, dearly loved Kermit and Miss Piggy. She knew the song by heart. I think she had hand motions she did..
maybe she learned them on the show or created them but they were precious.
I love this simple song, music and powerful message.
Lovingly Auntie HiC

ReplyDeleteAwwww, that was a lovely post to start the week! At first I thought 'surely not!'... then realised I'd watched Kermie and co in my young years and that's more than half a century ago, so yeah, happy rivvetday KF!!! Thanks, Rocky, for that. Hugs and whiskeries, YAM-aunty xxx
I still adore Kermit; who doesn't? I didn't know he was 70 years old, though. Or how Jim Henson made the first one. Thanks, Rocky!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday, Kermit! Wow, 70 years old, he is nearly as old as me! Thanks for the info, Rocky.
ReplyDeleteInteresting how Kermit was created. I didn't realize he was that old. I've always liked that song.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see who the puppies were. I was sad when Jim Henson died. I think he was a Marvel and what he did for children. Precious is very glad to see Rocky this morning.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this very interesting story. Kermit and friends were a very large part of our son’s growing up years. Jim Henson left us with quite a legacy. Loved the video, a sweet song to play at his funeral. Very touching! Hugs, Denise xo
ReplyDeleteMy kids grew up with all the wonderful Sesame Street characters, we loved them all (even those two old grumpy men in the balcony!) And the "Rainbow Connection" has played in my head so many times over the years ...
ReplyDeleteBTW: thanks for much for identifying friends of old ... Murphy & Stanley, of Blogville days ... we do remember them, along with many others.
I had no idea Kermit was so old. He sure ages well. BOL! That Rainbow Connection is a beautiful song.
ReplyDeleteRocky ~ fun facts for Monday ~ sweet photo of you ~ hugs,
ReplyDeleteHugs Cecilia and Angel Madi ~ xo

I remember Murphy and Stanley from blogville posts, but never followed them. I did not know any of this about Kermit. I did know who Kermit is, but neither I not my children knew him.
ReplyDeleteWow!! Those are some great Kermie facts, Rocky! Ed is a BIG Muppets fan and we can't wait to share these with him!
ReplyDeletexoxo,
Beth and the Girls
I didn't know most of this. Thank you for the history lesson, Rocky. You're most smart.
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Love and hugs to Auntie C and Kit and lots of scritches to the kitties. ♥
Thanks for the fun facts.
ReplyDeleteI never knew all of the Kermit stuff but he is sure a cutie and how can he be 70?! I kind of thought that could be Stanley and Murphy but I wasn't sure.
ReplyDeleteAwww, little Kermie. I didn't know he turned 70. I found a little floppy rain soaked Kermie on a parking lot in Washington, DC in 1990 and scooped him up and took him home. He dried out and he's made quite a few moves with us. It's very heartwarming that Mr. Henson made the original Kermit out of one of his Mom's coats.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, Kermit the Frog!
That was so interesting about Kermit, he is a cool dude and so is Rocky!
ReplyDeleteI did not know that. Very interesting. XO
ReplyDeleteHensen was a genius and I do love Kermit. I remember seeing the original Kermit when a Muppets museum showcase went on tour.
ReplyDeleteAhh Kermit! Happy Birthday! Almost as old as I am...wish we all could age that well, LOL!
ReplyDeleteI loved, loved, loved the video. Almost brought me to tears. Now I'm going to have to see if I can find that movie on Netflix, Paramount, or one of the other services we get. Thank you for this sweet post.
