Secret Lives of Letters O and P and Tale

November Reader's Digest and I happened upon this article,
"The Secret Lives of Letters", by Brooke Nelson.  Mr. Nelson says letters may be small characters, but there are amazing stories behind all 26 alphabet all-stars.

Four Legged Love

Saturday, January 12th, Eastside Cat Mom posted about a surprise encounter with a K9 while
at her eye appointment.  She told us how the office apologized since the beautiful yellow Lab had gone
beyond where he was supposed to be.  She told them NO worries at all and she gave the Lab some loving
adding Lab fur to the cat fur collection she had on her slacks.

I was reminded of a similar encounter

I am always ready for little 4 legged loving...no matter where I go.
Of course I ask permission first!!   If I don't see a person with a dog, I just say
hey sweetie and keep on walking.  There several outdoor cats in the neighborhood.
They all flop at my feet for belly rubs.

Dog TALE:

When I'm out and about, I most often encounter K9's and their owners. I think I send off an
"I'm a sucker, come up to me and I will love you" vibe. They all come up to me. A year ago early spring, I was walking around an outdoor mall. I saw the most GORGEOUS Great Dane in the distance, it was huge, and as it approached it became gigantic. It was a puppy about 9 months old. They were just getting it out and about for socializing and preparing her to be a therapy dog. I stopped as it walked up, I asked if I could pet it. The lady said she is a puppy she is just meeting folks. That precious Dane walked up to me slowly.
Her head was above my waist. She nuzzled my hand to her head and OMDs did we have a love fest. The lady said you might want to brace yourself, she (the Dane) is a leaner. Evidently that is a common thing with Danes. Yep the more I petted the more she leaned and oh my what an experience. Then some children approached. Do you know what she did? She laid down so as to be at their level, without being told to do so. I know in my heart this Dane if a wonderful therapy dog.

Final Friday Fiction and Nature Friday

Today I found my 3 lines from
Every Breath

line 8: drifted in and out
line 12: came back
line 16:  did most of the talking

Things that go beep in the night!!

We religiously change our smoke detector and Carbon Monoxide batteries
every 6 months or a few days earlier with out FAIL.
Even though the very nice batteries we buy are suppose to last a year or longer we still change them.  WHY? WELL because they always go beep in the wee hours of the night. I don't know anyone who has ever had the battery low beep during the day.  If we are just a few days past the 6 month date, it beeps at us. It wasn't quite time to change them before Christmas; however, we did not want them beeping in the wee hours when we had guests staying the night.
I'm sure somewhere in the information that comes with these devices there is very very small
print warning us that they are programmed to go off after 1 am on any given day.
On December 28 (only) I was awakened by the dreaded beeeeeeeeeeeeep at 3 am.
Since it was just one beep, I knew from  where the beeeeeeeeep cometh.  The dag gone battery back up in our home security system.

EXHIBIT 1

Dang it!! I knew the pattern of it's beep was once every few hours as a warning then more frequently.  BUT I drifted in and out of sleep!!
Once the sun was up I checked the file for the customer service number.
Much to my surprise, I saw that the battery was last changed was October 2010 and it was done by the company service tech.  Lo and behold when I called the company I was told the life of a battery was 5 years.  WOW we were living on borrowed time with this battery.
The handy dandy phone lady the told me changing the battery was no longer covered by the monthly AMOUNT we pay.  We'd have to do it ourselves.
Well okey dokey then we'll do it.
After we figured out how to get the cover off the box that was holding the battery hostage, I took a photo if it with T3 (Tracy The (smart) Tracphone) to show the guys at Batteries + Bulbs.   He came back to tell us there are two kinds of batteries. One has smaller connections than the other.  Thanks to T3 the Battery guru was able to consult with GiGi Google.  He sent us home with the Battery with smaller connections.
It connects just like a car battery so easy peasy. DONE and a big hot pink note is
on the box reminding us to do it again BEFORE December 2023.
Handy Dandy phone lady did most of the talking.  She gave me some
very helpful info.  Should the beep go off in the wee hours in 5 years I should hit cancel twice.  That will keep it from going off for 12 hours.

If you battery low beep on your detectors goes off ONLY in the wee hours of the night
raise your ✋.

These are a few out of doors photos I took at Cedar Creek Gallery

We had a very heavy frost here at the house January 16, the morning of our road trip.

As you walk toward the entrance of Cedar Creek Gallery there are so many
things to see.  Such as the blown glass Fairy Balls.

Here is today's pictorial inspiration

Little Guy
by Angel

Little guy please don't cry
Yes you are different; that is A O K!
Embrace your face and big brown eyes
Your fluffy furs and mini horns are UNIQUE
Yes there are things that make us shy.
Hold your head high....no need to hide
Dry up those tears enjoy the ride

What's It
by Cecilia
It has two mini horns
It's fur is fluffy.
Little guy why so forlorn?
Have you lost your way?
Perhaps your stuffy won't play.
The day is young,
Chin up my friend the sun is up to dry your tears.

I tried to be wordless Wednesday

But it seems I cannot do it.
It was 19 degrees Monday morning and 17 degrees Tuesday morning
When I took down my Christmas wreath in early January, I hung this welcome sign.
I'm officially letting SPRING know it is Welcome any time.

Follow up from Nature Friday on January 18, 2019

Left photo of nature being messy, Right photo of Mother Nature sending rain that cleaned up the messy.  I was so worried the mess would never go away!!
We had two small rain events that washed away  most of the P(oop)mail.

Rectangles, Trapezoids and Triangles

Did the title grabbed your attention?

Web results

Recently while sitting on my tush in the office/exercise room

the sun was coming thru the skylight

casting wonderful shadows on my hot air balloon
Vertical Rectangle

I will be the first to admit Geometry was not my thing...but shadows are.
As the sun moved over the house, the title of the post popped into
My Mind's Eye.  Now I will share

How to make a trapezoid

An isosceles trapezoid is a trapezoid where the sides (legs) have the same length, and the base angles have the same measure. It has reflection symmetry. This is possible for acute or right trapezoids. A parallelogram is a trapezoid with two pairs of parallel sides,

Trapezoid slowing turning back into a rectangle
and finally as the sun leaves the room a triangle

Remember me, your favorite feline nephew?!?
Sorry I’ve been MIA for a few days.
We’ve been invaded by some strange men who have been coloring the walls in our house. I’ve been protecting my domain, and I’m exhausted. 💤💤
Please forgive my absence.

Cups and Plates

As promised yesterday here are some photos from  our road trip to Cedar Creek Gallery
on Wednesday January 16, 2019.
They are having a Cupful Exhibit (no worries there were many photos taken and will be shared)
Along the way I also snapped 71 photos of cups and other stuff I'll share in the next few days.

We did not buy any.  While I 100% appreciate the time and creativity and love
put in to each piece...we didn't see one cup under $30.00. And the ones I
liked were more.

The collection below was probably my favorite
birch trees and red birds.  Both look very real
I would have loved the entire set but I don't need any more dishes. LOL

Sunday Selfie in the collage below
The lampshade on the top left if is hand painted on silk.  Yep I liked it too.

The gallery has a small museum for vintage pieces that are not for sale.
Tea pot top left  and the vintage lunch boxes bottom right

We arrived shortly after they opened...it was chilly in there (64 degrees) nice fire
was roaring.  The hummingbird pieces below were very colorful

I took more photos outside and some more inside that will be used later.
