Random Saturday Symmetry with a little Geometry*

A distant view of Downtown Raleigh from Boylan Street Bridge
Wye Hill, a Kitchen/cafe and brewery, sits on the left side of the above Bridge overlooking the train tracks.
Wye is a railroad term:  a triangle of railroad track used for turning locomotive or trains
Ironically it is a plumbing term for a short pipe with a branch joining it at an acute angle*.

Buildings are growing out of the ground overnight...
too quickly in our opinion.

Final Fiction Friday: Year of the Feline...

Was July 1984.
Is the year my fascination with felines began.
We took a road trip to Syracuse to visit my brother-in-law and his
two cats Ursula, house Panther, and Gudrun, terrific Tabby.
I was raised with dogs...so I really didn't know what to expect
with cats. Ursula and Gudrun were curious about their company.  We three were smitten from their first MEOW.  They were not the least bit shy around their company. The first night my husband and I were  fast asleep on the sofa bed.  All of a sudden I was awakened by what I thought was my husband touching my head as he rolled over. I scooted over a bit but it happened again.   I looked up to see huge kitty eyes staring down at me.
Lo and behold Ursula was on the back of the couch playing swat with my hair.  During our
visit they were absolutely charming, fun, full of spunk and gumption.  All
feline traits I came to love and admire.

Fast forward a few years we made a trip out the the Wake Co. SPCA on a Saturday before
Labor Day.  My fascination turned into a Labor of Love for all things feline.
We adopted our first cat Milky-Way aka MW.

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Today's inspiration

STROLLERS

Start out useful
Two years of age not so much
Runnin' and rompin' take the place of ridin'
Oh boy no straps to confine me
Learning to walk is a blessin'
Learning to let go ( for mom) is harder
Eddie walks like a pro confident as he goes
Rocky's paws gladly trade places
Sure do hope Eddie stays near so mom doesn't need Rocky's leash

My Acrostic Thankful
Hugs Cecilia

Purrs on Wednesday from Kat

Dearest Aunty HiC
One of Mom’s friends (another crazy cat lady😹) has been (overly) concerned about my well-being on our trip. She keeps asking if I’m eating, drinking, using litter box, getting plenty of exercise, on and on...
I sensed Mom's frustration, and decided to take matters into my own paws.
I sent the following purr-sonalized video, and I hope she got the message, loud and clear! 😻

(turn up your volume)

Dearest Nephew....yep you certainly (cat) nipped that worry in your very own purrs!!!.
OMCs I purrsonally know that your mom puts yours and Pup's happiness and needs way,way in front of her own needs. Sounds like your motor had a tune up too!!
Loving hugs from Aunty HiC

Dearest Aunty HiC
While I was having my afternoon siesta, (yep, in the closet), 😹 Pup and the peeps went for a hike.

Look carefully and you’ll see something very cool!
About 15 seconds in to the video look about center of the video
you'll see a pair of Coyotes way off in the distance.

❤️ Kat Your Feline Nephew
PS Hope you feel better soon. 😻

I replied:

Dearest Nephew if you get any sweeter all your family will have sugar overload.  Just so precious and made me feel 100% better
It appears, to Aunty, that being Kat in-Kharge of the Wheelie house and all in it, is exhausting.  I bet you were tickled to have it to yourself w/o anyone to snoopervise.
Lovingly your Aunty HiC

Just to let you know my hands have not been idle

“I will not buy any more fabric until I use up the stash I have at home,”

I found this quote on line but is applies to these next two collages of play mats
I made for Project Linus.
You might recognize the fabric every single pieces is from my
STASH aka scraps

Another Project Linus play mat
All of the pieces on the front is from my stash.
I didn't have any scraps larger enough for a backing. In keeping
with the dog bone fabric in the middle
I bought the adorable puppy flannel

The purple pansy  hanging is in memory of my former co-worker and dear friend, Janice's
Mother-in-Law, aka Mom aka Grandma Bess.
In the spring, I used this picture a pot of petunias, that Janice planted for Mom's front porch for one of my Chip D. Monk Stories here .  Janice read it to Grandma Bess who smiled a lot while listening.

This picture was my inspiration for the Wall hanging.
I couldn't find petunia fabric.  Purple pansies are a great substitute

Grandma Bess was 96, she recently passed.  Janice and her MIL both love purple.  Purple pansies/petunias will always remind me of Grandma Bess.  She was an English and French teacher.
I don't think you've seen these wall hangings,
My new passion is wall hangings.
I started with the 3 I made for the 3 young girls who visited me over the summer.

The pink and navy print (above) is for our hairdresser for Christmas.

The pattern on the front is called Churn Dash

Below is a table runner I made for our Christmas decorations.
Once I have it in place I show you what My Mind's Eye saw
when it saw the fabric

"You know you are a quilter IF
your ironing board is up, but you NEVER iron clothes."

I'm purging my quilts/wall hangings into collages...in case I want to duplicate any.
More on that when I'm finished purging.
