Nature and Feline Friday

First thank you all for your wonderful birthday wishes yesterday.
It was indeed a fine day, it started out with a take out breakfast from Panera
Asiago Breakfast sandwich.    Afterwards to took a nice walk.  We had sunshine for my birthday.

I made a nice crock pot of soup on Wednesday, enough  last night's supper no cooking all day.

Baskin-Robbins stores have all closed so no Ice Cream Cake but we did have a nice bowl of Breyer's Mint Chocolate Chip for dessert.

 Speaking of Nature: As I was preparing this post the weather man was rumbling about freezing precipitation today.   I'll be eager to see what Mother Nature left for us today.

 Today I join Ranger for Wacky January Holidays

Today is Old Rock Day

Ranger thank you for starting the wacky tradition again

I'll be pawticipating in the wackiness often.

In our heart of hearts, Dad of angel Madi and I are mountaineers.  Who live in the Piedmont (which means foot hills) of North Carolina.  Our hearts come alive when we see a hill.

In the spring and summer of 2019 we spent many days traveling around to see the sights in NC

today I present 

Chimney Rock....a very very old Rock

Following information from the Chimney Rock Brochure

Chimney Rock is a 535-million year old towering monolith and has been an iconic focal point in Western NC mountains for over a century. There are panoramic 75 mile view of Hickory Nut Gorge and Lake Lure.  It is accessible only by a 26-story elevator.  You don't so much stop at Chimney Rock...as it stops YOU. Marvel at the beauty and majesty of 404 foot Hickory Nut Falls which is one of the tallest of its kind east of the Mississippi.

I will be showing you our favorite BBQ sauces for 

Beef, Pork and Chicken

I  see no reason to try to make a sauce when

you can buy it 87 times better than what you make

We use Carolina Treet BBQ sauce for Chicken

With its perfect blend of vinegar and spices that BBQ from Eastern Carolina is famous for, our Carolina Treet Cooking and Barbecue Sauce has been a mainstay of southern cooking since 1953. We also make available a mustard based, South Carolina style as well.

Side Note: In NC there are two camps on BBQ sauce: East and West.  

 Eastern NC: is vinegar and spice which is our favorite

Western NC: is very much like Texas BBQ Sauce more ketchup and tomato based

Sweet Baby Ray's is our go to BBQ sauce for Beef or Pork

Sweet Baby Ray's barbecue sauce was developed in the early 1980s by Chicago brothers Dave and Larry Raymond. They named the sauce after a nickname Dave had earned as a basketball player.

Rocky has settled down a good bit and has become a full-time “upstairs” with the entre family.

Yes  MOL MOL I spy Kat guarding the very shiny cold box...

Rocky still doesn’t understand boundaries...and Kat isn’t ready to share his space.

Look how Kat keeps his cool!

They do agree on one thing; watching squizzers 🐿 is Da
BOMB!!  (Kat keeping his distance) BOL BOL he has a Rocker keeping Rocky at bay!!

Hoping, with time, Rocky and Kat will become good friends.

Today Janaury 5th is 

National bird Day...

I love all birds (well maybe their are some that I tolerate like the loud blue jay)

HOWEVER my very favorite bird E V E R is the

Ruby Throated Hummingbird, it is the only Hummer we see in this part of North Carolina

The blow photo is the best photo I've ever taken of a hummer

this is a Male as noted by its Ruby Red throat

photo taken September 15, 2011, thru the window which had a screen on it.

It was perched on a tree limb directly above the humming bird feeder

Hummers make me Happy any day of the week
