Madi: Kleenx box Take Two

Mom here: I enhanced the Kleenx box a bit by adding two things Madi

really likes in addition to the rubber bands.

TAGS, she will play with them for hours. I decided to try an empty box

since she loves poking her paws in them. Whala it worked.

She immediately came over to check things out...

I'm thrilled to say she did pull at the rubber bands.....
once or twice and seemed rather intrigued by the sound.

Ahhhh...but her favorite was the tags. You can enlarge the picture to see she is
licking it like it was coated with Fancy Feast.

Once she realized it was empty she nearly stuck her entire face in.

Then she noticed the 2nd tag hanging from the side. It came off the handle of a
brush. As soon as I took this picture, she stuck her paw in the round tag.
Dang camera won't take several pictures in a row without pausing so I wasn't
able to get that and of course she didn't do it again.
I'm very happy to have found something new and exciting for the
Diva .

Madi: Mom reads too many books

If you are saying this looks like a Kleenx box with rubber bands around it,
that is exactly what it is. Now I'm sure you are asking why would I
post a picture of this.....

Well the answer I read about this in a book I'm reading, Homer's Odyssey. It is a true story about an amazing
blind cat, Homer. Dog, only people, don't go away...this is a book all pet owners will love.
More on the book later.
So after reading about Homer's fascination with a Kleenx box wrapped in
rubber bands, I decided to try for the Diva.

Madi here:
Wonder what this is?
lick lick...it tastes like rubber ewwww.
FYI Mom: I don't like the rubbery taste.

I hope it isn't some new food because I will not eat it unless it is MEAT.
sniff sniff it smells like a box

Ewwww it is a box of Kleenx wrapped in rubber bands....Mom REALLY!!!
Sorry Mom, I don't know what you are up to but I'm not interested and quite frankly I'm insulted.

In true Diva form, Madi turn up her pretty her nose at this.

"Homer's Odyssey"
by Gwen Cooper.
It is a true story. I highly recommend it. I READ any and all books about animals.
Marley and Me, Wesley the Owl, Dewey the Library cat and Alex the amazing Parrot.
All excellent!!!
Homer was cast aside as a kitten when found he was about
4 weeks old. He had a severe eye infection, which when caught early, can be treated.
The vet who treated him said he had it about two weeks. Homer's
eyes had to be removed. The author of the book Gwen Cooper adopted Homer
at 6 weeks old she took him home to live with her two other cats.

Homer's story is truly amazing.

His accomplishments are absolutely unbelievable.
The good thing about this book is HOMER is still living so the
ending isn't sad. As for the kleenx box with rubber bands. Homer could not see
but he had a superior sense of hearing. Each rubber band made a different sound.
As Gwen says, he did not become a great musician but it was just another way
to enhance his life.

I would like to end today's post by saying Happy Birthday to Elvis he would have been 75 tomorrow, January 8.

My husband and I were fortunate enough to see Elvis live in Greensboro, NC

We were on the 4th row. This was the most amazing concert I've ever seen.
I thank you all for all the wonderful birthday greetings today. You all made it a b-day to remember.

Madi: You will not believe this.....

Frankly I'm astounded. I cannot believe my eyes
Mom and I wanted to share it. You
will be amazed when you see the pictures below me....

So Mom has been telling everyone it is COLD in Dixie...
Tank played his teeny tiny violin for us...
We don't have snow but it is so dang cold for NC.
The water fountain in front of WRAL-TV studios
froze while in motion. If you look closely, you'll see
water still shooting out of the top. They said the last time it was cold enough to
freeze the fountain in motion was 1994.....We just don't have this kind of cold weather.
If the weather guys are right, it sounds like we might have snow Thursday night.
(pictures taken January 4, 2010)
Below is another fountain in the Gardens at WRAL it too froze in motion.

This is one monster icicle

3. Each S.S. must display the award on his/her blog and link to this post, which explains the award.*

4. Each S.S. who wins is asked to visit this post and add his/her name to the Mr. Linky List
(I haven't quite figured this out yet) so they can keep up-to-date on everyone how receives
The Prestigious Honor.
