Nature, Feline and Critters Comfort

Thanks Comedy Plus for hosting

Thanks LLB Gang for hosting

Our guest room is currently at capacity with stuffy critters.
I decided to make them a critter size throw pillow.
Over they years you saw at least 87 photos of Angel Madi and her bunny Spring.
Here:

Bunny Spring,  Bear Heart and Mouse Topo (Topo is the brain child of Mara at Weighty Matters)
Their little critter pillow: front top 2 photos, back bottom.
Of course the kitty fabric with the gray kitty front and center is honor of Angel Madi

The next collage of critter comforts was taken in
the room of Angel Madi's favorite Sissy and BIL
Collage features
Beatrice Bear and Zip my Beanie Baby Kitty...with a pink nose
The pillow is an hour glass pattern made of moons in different colors and white fabric with sparkles.
It fits the theme of the night skies

Back of  the night sky pillow (which by the way is my last completed project).  I haven't been to JoAnn's in several weeks
This fabric is sparkly.  You can biggify to see sparkles aka stars

Oh the things I learn and see while walking around my 'hood.  ON Wednesday
a truck passed by me.  I didn't have my camera.
However, My Mind's Eye went wild with the name. Doody Calls.

Could it possibly be a service to pick up dog waste in yard?
When I got home, I typed  Doody Calls
 in to Gigi Google.
Quite an interesting website...services start as $12.00.
As always, Gigi had a wealth of information and photos.

Bella, Dui and Roxy...the other day while exchanging emails with HER,
she mentioned her chore for the day was picking up 'landmines'!
Please be sure she knows about this service.
Thank you
Hugs Cecilia

In Purrsit of Flavo(u)rs

I thank Da Phenny and Chef Shoko for
hosting.

Today I'd like to share a very much loved and tried and true recipe with you.

Basque Potato Pie
I bet you wonder what Basque is...well I'll tell you what Gigi Google says:
Basques are indigenous to and primarily inhabit an area traditionally known as the Basque Country (Basque: Euskal Herria), a region that is located around the western end of the Pyrenees on the coast of the Bay of Biscay and straddles parts of north-central Spain and south-western France.

As I looked up Basque I determined it is a regional version of Shepherd's Pie

Here is the original recipe

Preheat Oven to 350-375 depending on oven
3 TBSP butter
3-4 Medium Idaho Potatoes (any potato works)sliced thin, I leave skin on)
1/4 tsp salt (optional)
1 medium onion chopped
1 lb lean ground beef
1- 8 oz can tomato sauce
3/4 cup shredded Monterey  Jack Cheese,  (I use what I have on hand all are good)

*Note from Cecilia:  Over the years I have tweaked it just a tad, with spices instead of salt.  I use about  a 1 1/2 tsp of thyme, Mrs. Dash Italian Medley and Mrs. Dash Garlic and Herb).  We like potatoes I usually a few more than recipe.

Directions:
In a large skillet melt butter, add sliced potatoes. Lightly brown sliced potatoes on each side. Then line the bottom and sides of an oven safe dish. I used 9" pyrex pie plate
In same skillet brown beef, onions when browned add *spices and tomato sauce and about 1/2 cup of cheese.  Add beef mixture over the potatoes. Add remaining cheese on top of beef mixture.
Bake 30-35 minutes.  Let pie stand about 5 minutes before serving

Pictures as I was preparing it.
Pardon the fuzzy photo of the 'taters
Photo on the left is just before it goes in the oven.

Original recipe is typed so I'm not sure if I found it in a magazine.  They say the mark of a good recipe is the condition it it is in: i.e. lots of
spills on it.  Also the paper on which it is typed very 'weathered'
It is so well loved it now lives in a plastic sleeve in my cook book.

Happy Tuesday

I walked in the neighborhood yesterday, March 30.  Saw lots of fun chalk art and messages on the
side walks.

This is one of my favorite 'hood dogs
CODY
Cody is a rescue.  His human's think he is a mix of Great Pyrenees/ Black Lab and/or Newfoundland.
No matter his DNAs he has a gentle soul and a happy heart....he greets everyone.
His owner told me he never barks.

Last Friday we walked outside too.  Cody was in this very spot except he was napping on the side walk.
Yesterday I walked at about 8 am...Cody was probably sleeping in.  This photo was taken a few years ago.

 March 29, was Cody's Dad's Birthday.

This is Cody's house

His kids or maybe his mom had fun helping Dad celebrate in spite of the social distancing

Quarantini Corner Cracked me up!!
Even a glass with an olive in it.

Other driveway art seen on my walk.

SPARKS and Awww Monday

Just a note to many of you who visit Marg's Animals.
I have been very worried about her.
I wrote to Terry at Brian's Home to see if he had heard from Marg.

This is what he said:

Hey Cecilia,

Marg’s internet went down.  She lives way out in the boonies and because of the virus they can’t even give an ETA on getting it fixed.

While walking thru our neighborhood last week, we saw a young mom with a stroller on the other side of the street.   She had one of the double strollers with an infant in one section and a toddler riding  in the front.
We waved at them.  The toddler hollered, I'm eating a graham cracker I hollered back,  I like graham crackers with peanut butter.  His mom hollered, he does too but they are too messy for a walk. He hollered, when I'm at home I have to eat them over a paper towel.
I hollered back, that is a great idea!!

With all the social distancing nowadays, we aren't going any where except in the car
From the passenger seat of the car, I spotted the squirrel who was having lunch.
I have no idea what kind of insect this is but I don't think he knew about social distancing he let me get very close.  Maybe he was frozen with fear that my big feet were way to close
