Saturday Stuff and symmetry
My brother-in-law started wood carving after he retired.
Top two photos are his latest projects.
Left: a wooden dish. The top is raised carvings
Right: is "fire". He is fascinated by candles.
Yes you have seen these sculptured rings in the past. They fascinate me.
No matter how many times/angles you look at them you see something different.
Bottom right ring frames in the far background a smoke stack, and another piece of abstract art on the NC Art Museum trail.
Symmetry all over my brother-in-law's yard

Nature Friday: Hosted by my nephew Pup
Dearest Auntie HiC
It is I, Pup, your ace reporter, reporting from New Mexico. Where we are currently set up at:
Fun facts to know and tell:Did you know Ponderosa pines smell like butterscotch and vanilla? The peeps learned this the first time they visited Grand Canyon. There are several smaller Ponderosas in our new campground in NM.
There’s a beautiful Ponderosa is located on our campsite, and Mom headed straight for it
I told her I may or may not have “watered” that tree earlier, but it didn’t dissuade her.
You’ve heard of tree huggers; Mom is a tree sniffer!!!
Volume up!
After Mom finished sniffing the tree we did a little birdwatching. We saw lots of Scrub Jays, they are beautiful but too fast for a photo. Below borrowed from Wikipedia.
Mom says a great birdwatching companion. I never say a word. 😝
Dearest Pup,
Ohhhhh my word butterscotch, That is my kinda of tree. Now you have me LOLing...you watered the giant tree. I bet it grew a few inches overnight. The bird is gorgeous it matches the beautiful sky! I want a top that color.
Love to you and the entire pack your auntie HiC

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday #18
Today we join Two SPOILED CATS
Angel Sammy and Teddy for their poetic pictorial poem.
Here is our inspiration
My mind's eye has a faint memory of
everyone packed like sardines.
All breathing freely unmasked.
Social distance of six (feet)
was not in the mix.
No talking, every so often a constant click, click, click.

In Purrsuit of Flavors: Cinco de Mayo
I thank Das Nelly and Phenny and Canadian Cats for
hosting.
Da Twins and Da Canadian Cats have selected
anything Mexican
I present a flash back
HAPPY Cinco de Mayo DAY 2015
Madi was quite the little chef wanna be. She inspected every thing that came in from the Grocery store often would sit on the opposite counter watching me cook
I DON'T EAT TACOS BUT I DO LOVE
SNOOPERVISING THE PROCESS OF MAKING THEM.
MOM DON'T FORGET THE SWEET ICED TEA...TO WASH THESE DOWN!!
I invited Frisco, my nephew, to join me today.
As you can see, he was as excited as a laid back guy could get. He loves food....doesn't matter what kind. Since he is still a 'kitten', mom would not let him have a Margarita...
he was not impressed with the apple juice in a box!!

Happy Tuesday
A conversation recently heard in our car: by Me and HOM(husband of mine)
Me: WHOA to HOM
HOM: WHAT to Me
ME: HOM Not what WHO
When we drove by this home, I saw what I thought was a real Owl. Many folks around here have life like Owls to discourage squirrels and other critters from setting up a home in their yard.
The Owl was deep in concentration staring into the flower bed in front of the steps. His feathers were ruffled. His eyes seemed to be asking, "WHO invited you to this buffet"? He spread his wings to leave at the same time several cardinals in the flower bed flew off too. I guess I disturbed his lunch.
OWLS ON THE HUNT. Many owl species are nocturnal, meaning they are active at night. There are some owl species who are diurnal, however, meaning they are active during the day but rest at night. ... Owls spend much of their waking time hunting for food.

Sunday Selfies of many species
from Shelley Lake on a recent trek.
We were at the top of the trail to the bridge when we saw this little pup and her mom in the middle of the bridge. To our surprise Mom asked: May she come over to say hi? OF COURSE I said.
Her name is Kimiko, a 6 month old Poodle. Her mom said she is socializing her by letting her meet people. Kimiko had the most adorable prance.
In hindsight (no pun intended) I wish I had thought to ask for a photo of Kimiko's sweet face.
It is rare to see three species coexisting quietly.
Normally there is quacking, honking and territorial wing flapping.
All three were enjoying this secluded cove just under the bridge in above photo
