Mom: Our daughter's First Real Christmas

Technically this is her 2nd Christmas; however, since she was only
4 months old on her first Christmas we called 1972 her First Real
ChristmasThis picture is engraved in my mind forever. As you can
see by this picture, she was very surprised. Truly Christmas through the
eyes of a child.
The next picture is what she was looking at that had her so excited
Note we had the Christmas Tree in her playpen to keep the inquisitive
hands of a 16 month old safe.

Favorite Felines Under the Christmas Tree
Madi never got in the tree...probably too undignified for a Diva.
However she was obsessed with bows.  I'm purrty sure kitty slobber
would petrified anything.  Usually the bows were stiff
as a board.

Madi loved sitting on this beautiful tree skirt crocheted by
Dad of Madi's Mom, Margie

Milky-Way was a tree climber. We always put our tree up a few days
 w/o decorations
so that he could get the climbing out of his system.
His first Christmas he was about 6 months old.  We came home one
day to find him about 3/4 of the way up sitting on a limb happy
as a clam.

Nature Friday back to present times at Shelley Lake
Even without leaves this tree's gray limbs against the sky are eye catching.

I love the tall pines full of green needles reflecting in the water.

Thankful and Thoroughly Poetic Thursday #50

 Today we join

I am very thankful for crazy unseasonal NC weather.  As we say, if you don't like our weather wait five minutes and it will change.

Sunday, December 26th, we met favorite Sis and BIL of Angel Madi for a picnic at Bill Fay Park.  It was 70 degrees. On May 31, 2021 we met the there too BUT the temperature was 53, rainy and windy.  A good time was had by all.  So good to see them in a safe pretty setting.

Here is today's inspiration

She stands on Hatteras Island in the coastal City of Rodanthe, NC
Her tale is told in ebbs and tides of the Sea.
So grand was she, in 2008 Hollywood made her the star of
For years and years she weather coast storms she stood proud and tall**
The views from all her windows were breathtaking...
Til one day the sand and dunes where she stood
were covered under the Atlantic for good.

**This is the home on Hatteras Island.   I think it is the same home in our  photo inspiration minus the blue awnings.

Happy Tuesday Trek

Two New paintings along NC Museum of Art

Please give my husband a high five ✋ for spotting the interesting view in the photo on the right.  As we approached, he noticed the UNIQUE angle of the stack thru the overhang
You've seen the Smoke Stack before; however, over the last few months
a small information center for the NCMA was constructed just in front of it.

You might remember seeing this in the past.
It reminds me of a Jack  in the game of Jacks.
I like it against the very blue NC Sky

The above photo reminds me of a 'conversation' bubble.
Maybe it is for selfies??

Awww Monday and Sparks

At first glance, I thought there was just one Great Blue Heron in this photo.  After I cropped it I said Awww there are three

 Thank you to our

I have a star near each one I see
And I think there there are two juveniles, one behind the adult in front and one in front of the adult on the right.

Merry Christmas and Happy Everything

from my feline nephews

Visions of sugarplums (& dead mice) danced in their heads….

Someone 😹 rearranged dining room table last night.
No kitty has claimed responsibility❣️

Of course no kitty has but HOW about a Pup?

Tis the season to be Jolly, fa la la la

Nephews one of you has a future  in home design.
Hugs your loving Auntie HiC

Mystery SOLVED Christmas Eve night:

I appreciate you having my back, and saying Pup 🐕 was probably responsible for rearranging the dining room table.

Unfortunately, Mom caught me red-pawed, in the act; making myself quite comfy on the dining room table runner! Aren’t I a handsome devil???😽

Mom had a shoo me away so she could set the table for dinner. 😹
She was giggling, so I’m not in trouble. 😻 Being adorable has it’s perks.

Thankful and Poetic Thursday #49

   Today we join

Today I am very thankful to share an email and photos from my nephews and their staff.  In case you didn't know, their Dad had a mild stroke in November.

We are all thankful he is making great progress in  getting back to his very active life.

Oh my goodness! You made Dad smile, and made Mom cry ( happy tears)❣️

The box of cookies from Carolina Cookies, and your thoughtfulness was just what the doctor ordered. 😻
Did someone say COOKIES????

Dad immediately gobbled up a chocolate whoopie pie.

And Mom beheaded a gingerbread man! 🙀

Dad said he couldn’t share, but we understand.

The cookies included a calories chart, but Mom threw it away! Ha! 😹

Thank you for your friendship, and Merry Christmas to you and all our blogger Furiends.

❤️ Kat, Pup, & Rocky

Dearest Nephews...Auntie is so very happy that Dad and Mom loved the box of Carolina Cookies.
Everybuddy knows cookies are a cure all.
Your note made be smile a great big Cheshire Cat Smile.
I'm so happy Dad and Mom and you 3 are enjoying the cookies!!
MOL BOL LOL Mom threw away the calorie chart.  WTG Mom!!
I will be sure to tell all our friends that Dad is doing well and you 3 are behaving.
Once Big M aka favorite sissy of angel Madi told her Daddy that Mommy is the rule.  Same thing at your house
With love and hugs

The very first words that came to my mind when I saw this photo was
that line from the sitcom "Different Stokes" years ago and it is also my title

"What'cha talking about"

 All year I was good
not a cross word was said
I did everything you said I should
This box is full of air
You didn't even have a
a lump of coal to share.

Wordless Wednesday: Cody Pays Hat Tax

Tuesday December 14

The print in his text bubble is small so I have typed it below.

He replied: Absolutely but I don't have any hats.  Can I do it sitting down?  I'm not allowed to leave by driveway and it is almost time for my afternoon nap practicing"
