However, Crepe Myrtles are at their best in the heat..

Buds ready to pop open, gorgeous blooms of lavender and yellow

We have four along the side of our house.  They are blooming like crazy
each one has branches full of these beautiful blooms

Here is today's inspiration

Watermelon 

Small but mighty nothing she can't handle

She tackles it head down.

What else is a wee girl to do? 

When she has no teeth,

grab hold with her tiny hands

lean forward doing what she does best

face plant into the cool, juicy melon

suck in all the sweetness she can.

Personal note here: 

My Annie Ma used to serve it a lot to the grandchildren.

It made for hours of entertainment.  Lots of news paper spread on the picnic table. Several huge melons cut on the picnic table, it was a free for all.

We wore our bathing suits...they just hosed us off when we were finished.  I tired it once or twice but really didn't like it, I did enjoy the hose down and

seed spitting though.

Mom cut grass yesterday, using batt-op push mower. 

She kept saying Pup you are no help! Ha!

Lawn Pup. BUTT I am here to cheer you on.

Chattachoochee National Forest...we are very respectful

I am a collector of Sea Shells

I am especially proud of my Sand Dollars and my sea sponge

These sand dollars are at least 40 years old.

As you can see in the bottle I have several of the shells shown on the Sparks Quote


North Carolina is proud of the Scotch bonnet. So proud, that with the urging of the N.C. Shell Club, the state General Assembly saw fit to anoint the Scotch bonnet as the official state shell in 1965.

There are several Scotch Bonnets in this jar.

July is National Ice Cream Month

We have horrid heat predicted today and triple digit heat index...Good day to celebrate

The B-day Cake Caper

TA DA MOM HAD AN ICE CREAM 

B-DAY CAKE ON THE COLDEST DAY 

 SHE LET ME LICK LOOK AT IT

ACTUALLY I GOT WITH IN A NANO INCH

FROM THE BLUE FLOWER BUT SHE JERKED IT AWAY

LIKE I HAVE COOTIES

 THEN SHE PUTS IT BACK IN THE BOX

SO I'M LOOKING FOR ANOTHER ROUTE

 I DECIDED TO JUMP ON IT

 BUT SHE MOVED IT SO I HAD TO 

MAKE A DEATH DEFYING LEAP 

 GUESS I SHOWED MOM THAT SHE 

CAN'T FOOL ME

 MY WORK IS DONE NOW ONTO

MORE IMPORTANT MATTERS

THE CAKE WAS CHOCOLATE CHIP ICE CREAM IN

THE CENTER WITH CHOCOLATE CAKE

AND VANILLA ICE CREAM ON THE OUTSIDE

AND I'M ASSUMING IT WAS LIP SMACKING GOOD

I DON'T LIKE ICE CREAM BUT I LIKE TO 

TEASE MOM
