Poetic Thursday hosted by our pals Teddy and Angel Sammy
Here is the photo challenge
Splish Splash I'm not taking a bath
by Cecilia
My home sits smack in the middle of NC.
Just three hours West you can climb Hills
Three hours East you can stick your toes in the Sea.
If it is a thrill you seek,
head west to Bryson City.
A short trip to the top of the mountain,
will take you to NOC
Once you are ready to descend you have a choice: train or raft
If you are daft, you can ride a raft.
If you have a brain, you can ride a train.
We have done this several times; however,
we always ride the rail. No way we
want to splish splash in the rapids or chance
falling out on our heads.
*********************
Side note: the train tracks run parallel to the rapids
you can experience the "fun" virtually, as you watch everyone
If it is a thrill you seek,
head west to Bryson City.
A short trip to the top of the mountain,
will take you to NOC
Adventures galore await you there.
You will find so much to do your head will spin.Once you are ready to descend you have a choice: train or raft
If you are daft, you can ride a raft.
If you have a brain, you can ride a train.
We have done this several times; however,
we always ride the rail. No way we

Love the two lines:
ReplyDelete'If you are daft, you can ride a raft,
If you have a brain, you can ride a train.'
And thanks for the reminder that I need to resume Nobby's 'train training '!
Cheers, Gail (who did once enjoy a rafting trip down the Colorado River near Moab, Utah).
ha we agree... and we pick option #2.... a train is better than a train-age...
ReplyDeleteI would take the train too!
ReplyDeleteNice one, Cecilia! You ARE in the purrfectest location down there. This makes dad miss western NC more than ever.
ReplyDeleteWe will leave the raft riding to the younger set and stay safe and ride the train.
ReplyDeleteWhen we were young and dumb we did a raft trip. I regretted it 5 minutes after I got on the raft.
ReplyDeleteI'd planned a raft trip out Colorado way; had just met hubby-to-be about 4-weeks earlier ... such a whimpy-wimp he was at the time and I "let" him convince he to cancel it !!! (boo hoo always regretted that) ... (did not regret marrying him tho) ... we never did quite share the same sense of adventure tho ... I do think that looks like FUN!
ReplyDeleteOh, it would be the train for me. I love to ride the train. I would like to take a train north in the fall. No rafting for me.
ReplyDeleteGood Morning!
but what is the train goes off the tracks you will fall in the rapids????? MOL BOL LOL... I might ride the train but never the raft. i keep hearing dueling banjos in my head
ReplyDeleteWe like your poem and agree that the train is the better way to get down the mountain.
ReplyDeleteGreat poem - your state could use it to promote the activities available. XO
ReplyDeleteI'm totally with you on this one - no way Jose' on the rapid insanity but a train - now that's "more my speed" !!! Great poem!!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Pam
You painted such a pretty picture with that one!
ReplyDeleteA lovely poem today...and Ed and I are with you and would rather ride the rails and watch the water adventure from a safe distance BOL
ReplyDeletehugs,
Beth

You're smack dab in the middle of many adventures. Here in Chatt town we are the center point for Knoxville, Nashville and Atlanta.
ReplyDeleteSorry, I still want to raft, only on a slightly tamer river.
ReplyDeleteI like your poem!
