Day Dreams of my seafaring Cap'n!!!

Madi's Dad thought she was sitting on the back of the couch to be near him. I had to burst his bubble last night by telling him Madi was daydreaming about her pirate Cap'n who is landlocked in Collie-rado. His ship is permanently in dry dock never to sail the sea of love. As you can tell by the above mopey picture, she has come to terms with destiny.
She will sit here under the sailboat day dreaming about Cap'n Ripley, her favorite sweet talking,
swashbuckler Pirate Cat.
Cap'n Ripley is the very mysterious feline brother of the famous Mayzie the lovely brindle dog. Mayzie is Cap'n Ripley's translator. Madi does not speak Piratenese and the Cap'n doesn't speak Southernese. When Mayzie told the Cap'n Remington was trying to win Madi's heart with gifts. He ranted, raved and talked of gangplanks and duels and threatened Rem with his 4 sets of very sharp itty bity swords. Rem is a lover not a fighter so he suggested they engage in verbal negotiations rather than physical conflict.
Rem sent the Cap'n a message that he and Madi were FRIENDS only.
Madi was sleeping very soundly during the turmoil, which made her Dad ponder if she even
CARED.
PeeS I doubt very seriously that Cap'n Ripley knows Rem is a gentle giant.

HARLEY UPDATE: We are happy to report that sweet Harley is home resting comfortably. The bladder catheterization went well, no blockage and no infections. We are hoping July will be a better month for our little buddy. Several years ago he was diagnosed with Irritable Bowel, which complicates just about everything. It was under contorl until early June when he had to be on antibiotics for infected teeth. Then had 3 teeth extracted, more antibiotics after the extraction all of which just totally mess up his system. Not to mention the numberous trips to the vet during June making June a very stressful month. IB and stress make for a very unhappy kitty. We love you to bits Harley!!!

Flashback Friday: Milky-Way's method of marking.....

Milky-Way was a manly cat. His greatest passion was to mark everything as HIS.
He was neutered at 6 months so, thankfully, his method of marking was by rubbing the sides of his mouth on EVERYTHING several times a day for 14 1/2 year. Sometimes when he would do this to his humans. His meow sounded like he was saying 'Mine'. In this picture, he was marking the corner of the wall heading toward his humans sister's room....which was near his box and he must have passed it and marked it ten times a day. If you look closely, you will see that he is rubbing against a cat-a-comb on this corner.
We put it there for two reasons:
#1. to cover the missing paint from his daily markings he always rubbed the side of his mouth along the edge of the wall. His teeth wore the paint off that corner.
#2. if you aren't familar with cat-a-combs, it was about 3" long by 2" wide it wrapped around the corner attached by double sided velcro. It had hard plastic bristles that evidently felt wonderful to rub against. Of course, there was a catnip pouch on it too. Milky-way was a wonderful, patient teacher. We learned so much from him and Madi, the Diva, has benefited from each and everything he taught us.

Madi here: Harley....my human sister's Cornish Rex kitty is not feeling well at all this week. Lots of ongoing health issues. Please keep him in your thoughts.

Thankful Thursday for Thoughtful Furiends

Happy Thankful Thursday to one and all.
I think it has been established that Mom is a squealer.
Well you should have heard her when she came home last night, bellowing "Madi you have mail, from a Male". I looked at her and said Mom are you loopy you are talking in circles.
It appears she was right...but why in the world does English have so many words that sound alike?
Of course I had to inspect it...sniff, sniff...oh Mom this smells
suspiciously like it came from a very tall, dark and handsome mysterious man.
Many of you know him as the keeper of Zone 5 and a very good friend to all the garden fairies.
I waited as long as I could then I just had to insist she open it.
Oh my Stars and Stripes what a surprise.
I received my very first ever
Happy 4th of July package, from guess who?
not only is he handsome, sweet, kind, and a good role model to his little sister Oz
he is SMART...he can write his name.
I have a snack and I have a fine fuzzy pink feather toy.
I will be so busy playing with my pink feathers and snacking on my
delicious treats I probably won't even hear all the loud, obnoxious fireworks on
The 4th of July
Remington you have made this a very special 4th of July for this Diva kitty, who is
proud to call you her BFF (best furiend furever)!!!

Remington my man,

Please thank Beth for driving you all around town to select these special treats
and for making such a pretty card for you to sign.
Your devoted friend,
Madi

Ahhhhhhh Wednesday

I wanted to point out that Madi's head is resting on her back left paw. How cute is this?
Do I hear a collective AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH?
"I love cats because I love my home and after a while they become its visible soul."
~~Jean Cocheau from Who's Kitten Who? by C. Baxter
I believe this quote was written with Madi in mind!!

We love animal quotes....

Posted by PicasaCats regard people as warm-bloodied furniture...Jacquelyn Mitchard
A Dog wags its tail with its HEART....Martin Buxbaum

Mom recently read 'Who's Kitten Who? by Cynthia Baxter. She gives it *****
The main character, Jessica Popper, is a Veterinarian and amateur sleuth.
At the beginning of each chapter there is a quote about animals.
Mom loves them all and will periodically share them with you all.
The book Mom read before this one was 'Deception Point" by Dan Brown all 700+
pages it was excellent too but she said it required lots of concentration. 'Who's Kitten Who'
was sweet, funny and gave her brain a rest.
