Things Mom does just because....she is Mom

Mom crochets....(for those who are clueless that is done with one hook not two needles). Now this activity keeps her out of my fur and seems to make her happy, so it is ok fine with me!! Right about now, I should be doing a happy dance too. It is the duty of any self-respecting cat, to chase yarn and promptly see that the entire ball rolls all over creation turning it into the purrfect ball of  a tangled mess. I, Madi, hang my head in shame, as I admit, that I do not do this BUTT it is only because I can't.
My mom thought it would be clever to buy a yarn jar...

I'm sure there is proper name for it but to me it looks like a jar. One entire skein of yarn fits in it, there is a hole in the top to pull the yarn through thus making it completely paw proof and as you can see it is see through so I can see the yarn move all around in there but I cannot get to it.

If you look closely at the above picture, you will see exactly what I think about the jar. I stuck my tongue out at it!!!
See my little pink tongue?
This does not amuse me at all.  If there is someone out there who would enjoy having a cat to play with their yarn, please send your application to:

  1. Aw Madi, that is an evil invention. It is designed to keep kitties from developing their yarn tangling skills, how rude. Maybe one day your mom will forget to tuck the end into the jar then you can grab it and start running.

I would invite you over to play with yarn here but we have no yarn. My mom is all thumbs with such things.

  4. Poor Madi... Brodie loves to chase yarn. Mommy should really invest in one of those jars!

  5. Madi, if you really apply yourself you can still interfere with the yarn she's using. OK, it's not a ball, but she must have on string moving tantalizingly as she crochets. If all else fails, sit on her lap and knead the new projec into submission.

    lotsa licks, Lola

  8. Your mommy is a meanie! That is part of your job to run off with the yarn and play. Beth said that is a cats right. You can come over to our house -- there is yarn ALL over! Ozabella runs off with Beth's yarn while she's knitting and hides it in her tents. Quite the little game. See you soon!

  9. Lola is right, go for the yarn coming out of the top of the jar! You can get back at her really well if you do that!

  10. This is a most clever invention. My mom tried to knit once (it didn't go so well). She just kept her yarn in a big bag next to the couch and guess what happened ...that's right, the kitties helped themselves.

  15. Hi Madi! We have missed visiting you since mom's stupid work blocked her computer! We think it is cool you mom crochets - ours does too. We have a tip - you can go after the string while she is crocheting - sure only a small part shows, but if she isn't paying attention you can chew threw it and take off, pulling it out of the jar, before she even notices! We have done that a couple times and our mom has one of those jars too!!

  21. Madi!
    That is not funny, right?
Sounds like you really love to play with yarn... and you can't do it with that "jar"!
I hope you think of a good plan to correct that!
