This is what is in the box...note at the arrow...what is says so I guess I won't get
a box for keeps but just for a little while
Dad ordered this train. They are not mass produced
so he had to wait 87 years for it to be made. OMCs is it heavy and is he a happy camper
He took it over to Mr. Jerry's house. Mr. Jerry is a retired electrical engineer.
He is programming Dad's train to run on the sound systems he has set up.
Boy would I like to be a fly on the wall when these train brains run their new trains.
Because I know you are interested...I did a wee kitty interview with Dad about the train.
Dad give us a the cliff note version of what this train is all about!!
From the lips of Dad: It is a model of a Southern Pacific SD9 (early 1950's era).
It is diesel and has a complete sound system built in to reproduce all the sounds of a real
engine including all the bells and whistles.

Below are two of Dad's favorite things toGETher!!
So Madi l think we need a video (with sound) of the southern Pacific S9 in action!
ReplyDeleteoh how great... it is great to watch this train and to listen to the sound and to remember the way people traveled in the 50's...
ReplyDeleteHow exciting! My human loves trains, big ones and toy ones... if we had the space, she would have a whole room for a train set and spend bunches of money making it awesome.
ReplyDeleteHari OM
ReplyDeleteOh Bertie beat me to it... you KNOW I loves me a choochoo... definitely think there is a case for demonstrating those bells and whistles!!! I like your box-babbing style Madi... Hugs and whiskeries, YAM-aunty xxx
What fun for your dad but it looks too small for you to ride, Madi!
ReplyDeleteOH BOY!!!! Your Dad got a new train! I know he's excited about that for sure........I think that box would be wonderful - nice and long and narrow - perfect for a snug fit. I guess that takes care of your Dad's "wish list" for Christmas right? How about YOURS Madi?
ReplyDeleteLove, Angel Sammy
Looks like Dad is having an early Christmas. Good for him. What fun to play with all the trains. You all have a fun day.
ReplyDeleteYour dad is having a very good Christmas this year! Oh no, that can't be right about the packaging. Don't they know all boxes are the property of the resident feline - or in cricket's case, resident recycler...
ReplyDeleteElliot and Cricket x
I'm glad finally got that train after waiting 87 years. Oh my, what a very nice one. And, I can see why that last pic is 2 of his favorite things.
ReplyDeleteI rode many times behind engine like that one.. starting in 1945 through the last ride in 1969... the box is just your size. phooey on saving it.. of course I know why but sure is a nice cat box
ReplyDeletetell your assistant we need a short video of the sounds it makesw
ReplyDeleteOMC MADI... your dad got his Christmas TRAIN... before Christmas??? We think there is a FLAW... on the SOUTHERN PACIFIC Engine... it SHOULD be #87. BUTT even with that slight flaw... it is a thingy of BEAUTY. Your dad is gonna spend HOURS in his train room... He is gonna be as Happy as GILHOOLEY from the Movie Donavan's Reef, with this SUPER new Train.
ReplyDeleteNOW about the BOX... CLAIM IT... Make it YOURS.
That is a very cool train... all the sounds of a real train!!! The box is just right for you Madi! Your Dad will not mind sharing with you, for sure! And yes, we need a videeOH!!!
ReplyDeleteOur dad likes trains too but not as much as your dad. That looks like a cool toy but the box looks even better. We're glad to see you got to try it out.
ReplyDeleteSo Dad got a train and you got a box -- sounds like a pawfect combination!
ReplyDeleteso very cool! looks like you and dad got an early Christmas gift...that box is perfect for you. :) now, what will mom be getting in the mail??? :)
ReplyDeletehugs,
Marie
That train looks really awesome. Does he let you play with it too?
ReplyDeleteMadi, you let him spend money on stuff that isn't for YOU!?! WHAT!?! That's breaking the rules...lemme see......yep, says right here on The Cat Contract, item #7, paragraph 2, "All extra green papers not needed for human and cat food, treats, toys, beds, etc. must be used to provide enrichment activities for the cat, such as but not limited to: cat condos, luxurious cat beds, expensive cat toys, expensive cat foods and treats, cat spa days, and any other expensive item that the cat deems necessary." Tell him to take it back, Madi...he's breaking the contract!
ReplyDeleteCan you ride the train? Or keep the box??
ReplyDeleteMara from Norway
Do you like to chase trains Madi? Our mall has a huge setup of trains and everytime we see it we think of your dad!

Cool train pretty Madi, yesa video would be interesting!
ReplyDeleteAnd the one on top had better be his MOST favorite:) Cool new boy toy and very fun box for Ms. Madi. Mom needs to pull out the very old train set she has in the basement. If we could get it to do a cross country run, we would head right over to NC to visit you!
ReplyDeleteWoos - Lightning and Misty
Oh Madi we're glad your Dad is so happy!
ReplyDeleteSit on the train when it's on the track and you can go for a ride
ReplyDeleteLily & Edward
That is a lovely train. My mum used to have a train set when she was young which was originally her dad's. Her dad used to work on the trains after the war.
ReplyDeleteWow! My favorite miniature human, Ryan, loves trains too! His collection is limited to Brio wooden train tracks, and Thomas the Tank Engine for now.
ReplyDeleteCool train and great box.
ReplyDeleteThere was something for you, Madi. The box!
ReplyDeleteWOW, That is a keeper of a train for sure.
ReplyDeleteI bet your dad is very happy.
and box for you Madi I say that is
