This week's header is a photo of Pottery Barn's window in a lovely piZap frame.
I added my angel Madi. She was sitting in a paper bag which she loved.

I think I might have mentioned, once or twice, on a Quilting post how long I have
secretly yearned to quilt. The yearning started back in the late 1990's when I
met a delightful young co-worker Pam who quilted. While working at NCSU,
Pam met a very charming Post Doc...they married and moved to Illinois.
Several of her siblings live in Raleigh. About two weeks before Thanksgiving, I rec'd an email from Pam. She and her family would be in Raleigh...would I like to met for lunch...I said absolutely.
Pam doesn't do much quilting now. She is mom to a very busy 15 year old who plans a career as Veterinarian. They live out midst the cornfields with lots of animals, kinda of a hobby farm.
Head hanging in shame...I didn't think about taking photos
until 2 got away from me.
Collages show back and fronts
Speaking of Quilting
I would like to thank HER from DownUnder Daisy, for sending me this adorable
Picture
Mid November I started working on a project for us. I loved the colors in the wall hanging I made for our hairdresser. (pic bottom right of last collage (above) navy and pink)
Sunday before Thanksgiving, I had a freak accident, a combo of a bad pinch and chunk of skin being cut out of the fleshy part of my right thumb. It bled like a stuck pig. Dad of Angel Madi got a band aid on it eventually. Whew, happy to say,
I did not need a transfusion! LOL
It was pretty much useless for about 7 days. I have a new respect for furries without thumbs. LOL THUMBS are extremely impawtant. About all I could do w/o making it hurt was type. No pushing in pins, no writing. It is not hanging yet since, the sleeve I make for the dowel is hand sewn. Currently it is bench warmer.
Hi Cecilia,
ReplyDeleteBertie and I are so relieved that the application of a band-aid prevented your from bleeding to death. Bertie is saying imagine the quilts he would make if he just had a couple of thumbs!
Take care now.
Cheers, Gail
we are glad the accident found a good end... thumbs are so important... not only for opening cans... we love the mug, that's a super quote and super true, isn't it?

ReplyDeleteOMG - how you leave the disaster bit as a 'byword'!!! Thank goodness for dad of Madi and his first aid skillz!!! More care there, Miss C - and LOVE LOVE LOVE your patchworks and quilts!!! YAM xx
Oh my - you are a quilting machine now aren't you! Well when you keep something all pent up inside (a desire to quilt) and you let it free (yay) you might just go a little crazy for a while making all kinds of things! And they are all so beautiful too. Sorry about the thumb accident but maybe it was Angel Madi's way of saying "take it easy Mom!"
ReplyDeleteHugs, Teddy and Mom Pam
You've created so many beautiful pieces! We are so sorry to hear about your thumb. We hope it's back to 100% soon so you can get back to your quilting.
ReplyDeleteWow, those quilts look terrific. Well done. Sorry about your thumb.Hope it heals up fast. Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteOh no, sorry to hear about your thumb. Love all your quilts. I'm sporting a couple of bruises today...... Had a spill when helping the Redneck. Bruised ribs and hip on the right side. Just what I need more bo bo's. Hope all is well and you had a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteOH my DEAR Cecilia! Your thumb!!! I can absolutely identify with the total inconvenience and inability to do everyday things for a period of time. HEAL! Thumb! Right now!!!
ReplyDeleteI love that gift you got...the cup! Perfect for a hobby addiction. I have a few too. I can only do decorative sewing these days (non-cross stitch (don't care for it) embroidery and needlepoint. It too can be consuming :-)
You are most beautiful, Cecilia. Yes you are.
ReplyDeleteYour quilts are most beautiful and I'm glad you got to have lunch with Pam. Lovely.
Sorry about that thumb. I'm glad you're all better now.
Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Big hug, my friend. ♥
Love the header! Your quilts are amazing.
ReplyDeleteThe Florida Furkids
wow, you may have Quilt Mania, kind of like my legging mania, but you make yours... they are beautiful. the header is gorgeous. I love the trees, it is my kind of décor... yikes on the thumbless typing. I am using my thumb to hit the space bar. ouch! glad you had a nurse living with you...
ReplyDeleteI have been quilting for many years. I love to curl up in warm batting, patchwork and dogs on a cold winter day. I love what you have created.
ReplyDeleteOh dear! sounds like a painful accident and we are so glad you did not bleed to death!
ReplyDeleteAll your quilts are so beautiful. Last week mom made the mistake of getting her pneumonia shot and shingle vaccine on the same day. Both arms sore and feeling crappy fro a couple of days. But at least it is over all at once - till she gets that second shot - oh my
hugs
Mabel & Hilda
You sure have been busy quilting. We see that you are trying more blocks and doing a great job. Sorry to hear your thumb was out of commission. It can really hamper your crafting whether it's quilting or crochet.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful to meet up with your friend and what wonderful quilts you've been creating!
ReplyDeleteHope your thumb is on its way to being all healed up!
That window is sure pretty, especially with Angel Madi there. Your quilts are amazing, you really should be so proud. Dang, I'm sure glad your thumb is healing up, ouch, ouch, ouch!
ReplyDeleteI see mine! Still awaiting dowel. I've been so slack...… Love your idea of a centre piece on the table. Keep quilting!
ReplyDeleteMadi was watching over you! I know "off hand" how often one HITS a sore thumb too after I nearly cut my thumb off from the hedge trimmer! I admire those that can quilt successfully.
ReplyDeleteThose quilts are so pretty We admire those that quilt...and quilt well like you. Sorry about your thumb. We hope it’s feeling better now.
ReplyDeleteOuch on the thumb :( I love the header and all your quilting is beautiful. I especially like the red with gray. XO
ReplyDeleteOuch!! You never realize how much you use your thumb until it’s out of commission. Your quilts are fabulous!
ReplyDeleteSorry about you thumb. You have done a great job. You have a lot of talent.
ReplyDeleteOh noes! Sorry abouts your thumb! Yes, thumbs are VERY IMPAWTENT in the opening of treatie bags and other asst. foodables. Ma's thumbs are crap, and are always hurting, so I knows how terribles it is to be without the opposables! BOL!
ReplyDeleteHopes yours heals real quick, so you can get back to your FABulous quilts!
Kisses,
Ruby ♥
Your poor thumb! That slowed down some quilting. I know I have said it before but I am so happy you have found this passion. Your quilts are truly beautiful and they come from your heart!
ReplyDeleteCecilia, the pretty blue frame around the header picture makes it more striking. I'm glad you didn't bleed all over one of your quilts! Those kind of temporary disabilities always make me appreciate more what others with disabilities face. Hope your thumb heals quickly.
ReplyDeleteThe next time I read a blog, I hope that it doesnt disappoint me as much as this one. I mean, I know it was my choice to read, but I actually thought you have something interesting to say. All I hear is a bunch of whining about something that you could fix if you werent too busy looking for attention.
