No Baskin-Robbins cake for me this year...probably the first time in
my married life. We ordered one last year...it was not at all good.
The stand alone Baskin-Robbins closed. The only one left near us
shares the building with Burger King...I declare last year's cake
smelled like french fries.
This year I decided to buy a carton of my favorite Harris Teeter brand I SCREAM
Triple Chocolate and a Sara Lee Pound cake. There will be pictures later.
The making of Me
Top row: For your viewing pleasure
It appears from the top two photos I
was a born a well balanced ham. I could touch my head and foot a the same.
2nd Row left, I can't remember why I am in a formal at age 9, probably
a school function.
I'm in the middle my maternal grandmother aka
Annie Ma on my right, my paternal grandmother on my left
2nd Row: middle photo I'm still practicing my hand/foot coordination. I was an angel in Christmas Program.
2nd row: Junior in high school. How many of your remember the
flip hair style. Took a ton of bobby pins to get the curls.
Then you had to brush like crazy to get the flip and use hair spray.
Bottom Row: We were in Parrot Land in Florida...good
thing I had been practicing my balance and arm coordination
1 parrot on my head, 2 on each arm
That's a bummer about the Baskin Robbins cake. I hope this was a satisfactory substitute.
ReplyDeleteSome of us just go from young and crazy to old and crazy! Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday!!!!!! my mom tried to get the same hairstyle as she was 16, but it never looked like yours... she tried everything, she slept with the inner paper rolls of tp paper and the next morning her hair was connected with the rolls furever and ever LOL

ReplyDeleteAw heck, every year I say to myself 'remember Miss C is a week ahead of Mac1'... and every year I forget. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR LADY!!! YAM xx
Happy birthday Cecilia! I remember the flick ups hairstyle. I went to bed with damp hair and big rollers then in the morning put on so much hairspray that it felt like concrete!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, Cecilia! Love the photos!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday! I love those pictures. It is a shame about the cake though.
ReplyDeleteA very happy birthday to you! Mom loves ice cream cakes too, but good ones are tough to find these days, sadly. Culvers had concrete mixer cakes that were amazing, but they quit making them too. Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! I remember back in the day when I worked, the office would do a monthly birthday cake and they got it from Baskin Robbins. That was always such a treat. I hate hearing that they've gone downhill. We occasionally stop to buy scoops of ice cream. I love their chocolate pb! I keep telling myself age is just a number but I'm telling you I don't like those kind of numbers. :) You're staying young at heart with your fun birthday humor - you rock girl! I'm visiting from Sandee's niche Comedy-Plus. Happy Tuesday, dearie!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! Love the pictures. Thanks for sharing them. Sounds like you made a good choice by finding something other than an Ice Cream Cake that tastes like french fries.
ReplyDeleteit is hard to type while laughing out loud at Yung No Mo... I love that.. these few photos tell the story of your life and tell it well... Happy Birthday, remember you are yung no mo!!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! We don't think we would like ice cream that tasted like french fries.

Happy Birthday! We love seeing all those pictures from yesteryear of you. You sure gave us a chuckle with all that hand and foot coordination. BOL!
ReplyDeleteI'm Yung No Mo too. I'll gladly join you. I hope you had a fabulous birthday and sounds like your new ice cream and cake will be a far better choice.
ReplyDeleteLove all the shots of your youth.
Thank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Happy Tuesday. Big hug. ♥
Love the photos! Little you was very cute and you crack me up with your comments. I had/have a natural flip because my back hairline is strange. I think your Triple Chocolate I SCREAM and pound cake sounds like a great substitution. Enjoy your special day!!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! Being one of six children, we didn't have a lot, but my parents made sure each of us had their own hand-chosen birthday cake. My brother always wanted graham cracker and pudding (yuck!), and another sisters asked for a cheesecake. My cake was a usual buttercream frosting layer cake from the grocery store, and it always had clowns on it. It's fun to remember, but I don't eat that stuff anymore, and this year, I am running away so no one can find me on my birthday...hehehe!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday, and many more! Hooray! Those old pictures were great! GW remembers the flip hair-do.
ReplyDelete(We usually get a cake from Wegmans for birthdays.)
Happy Birthday Cecilia. What a wonderful set of photos! You will surely be forever Yung at heart.
ReplyDeleteThere is a danger that Gail is about to fall over on top of Bertie as she attempts the touching head and foot at the same time routine!
Fun photos and yes, it's a shame about the ice cream shop. Happy, Happy Birthday from all of us!!!

Oh dear, sorry we're late to the Birthday greetings. Happy belated Birthday, Cecilia. We hope you had a wonderful day, and glad you got to enjoy the new ice cream cake. Mom and dad are like that with lots of products, especially with Harris Teeter. They'll choose Harris Teeter fresh-made wraps and pizza over any sandwich/pizza shop any time. Have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteHappy, happy, happy birthday!! I don't think I've ever had a Baskin-Robbins cake but it sounds delicious...except for the french fry part. LOL! I hope your birthday was absolutely wonderful.
ReplyDeleteAw, this was a really nice post. In idea I would like to put in writing like this additionally – taking time and actual effort to make a very good article… but what can I say… I procrastinate alot and by no means seem to get something done.
