Thoroughly Poetic Thursday #10

Today we join Two  SPOILED CATS
Angel Sammy and Teddy for their poetic pictorial poem.

Here is today's inspiration

Memories by Me

Up in the attic times gone by
flash before my eyes.
Everything I see tells a story
of life and all it's glory.
Saddle oxfords, bobby socks and box pleat skirts.
Swaying and dancing to the Beatles "wanting to hold my hand".
Elvis LPs  played over and over, he was my favorite.
When I saw Blue Hawaii, I quietly sang along.
Learning to sew.
When you live in the South, ice skates are not found.
Many Saturdays were spent rockin' and rollin' at the rink
in my roller skates as the mirror ball turn round and round.
Lava lamps were mesmerizing, hula hoops challenging.
Awww sweet memories of a childhood that was
GOOD!!

I still have all of my LPs from the 1960's
including Blue Hawaii and the Beatles that are in today's photo inspiration. We have a turn table from the 1980's

  7. My ghostwriter says the first time she heard the Beatles she was visiting her Oma in Germany. Did you know the Beatles did their songs in German too?

She also remembers roller skating and ice skating and saddle shoes, but bobby socks and poodle skirts were a little before her time.

  8. What a great poem for that picture. You found things in it that we didn't notice at first. Those albums are probably collectors items if the vinyl is in good shape.

  11. All of my family members gave our LPs to my brother, who's recorded them all onto his computer. The Hubby remembers listening to LPs at the local library, and even with headphones on, the music was so loud, the librarian told him to turn it down!

  12. That photo brings back so many wonderful memories to Mom. Things she had to play with and things she loved to explore in her Grandma's attic. Loved your poem. Mom wishes she hadn't let Dad convince her to part with all their LP's on one of their cross country moves:(

We still have lots of vinyl, but nothing to play them on.

  15. What a great poem this week! It was a fabulous photo to use for inspiration wasn't it! I just have loved every poem I've seen today based on this photo. So many of these attic treasures ring a bell with so many of us. Thanks for having fun with this one like we did! By the way - we have a turntable that can play any records including 33-1/3. We have my Dad's old record collection too.

    Hugs, Pam
