Thank you to our
Below is a the guardian Wolf of Sertoma Art Center. It is one of the 100 placed around Raleigh in 2001. Here is a little background:
The Raleigh Red Wolf Ramble exhibit began September 2001. The form for each wolf was made of fiberglass. NC artists enhanced them with paint and three dimensional add ons. Once the whimsical wolves were completed, The City Council approved the placement of 100 red wolves sculptures all around Raleigh for viewing. We had maps of where each was located. What fun it was to wonder about looking for them. On April 5, 2002 they were auctioned. They are now scattered all over the State. The red wolf was selected because it is an endangered species special to NC. At the time the newspaper coverage of the auction stated, 'of the 125 wolves in the wild, about 100 are in North Carolina'.

ReplyDeleteYes, yes, yes... !!! YAM xx
I'll admit I'd never heard about the endangered red wolves, and are now curious to learn more about them. Google to the rescue!
ReplyDeleteCheers, Gail.
I would like to have such a guardian here... what would the boys say?
ReplyDeleteThat is a nice story about the wolves.
ReplyDeleteLove the SPARKS and also love the guardian wolf sculpture.....what a lovely idea.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Pam
The wolf sculpture is just beautiful and I love the sparks!
ReplyDeleteI always lovet hose echibits. I saw elephants in Copenhagen years ago and tried to take as many photographs as I could. Whether I would like one of those wolfs looking int he window isn another matter, I think it might scare me each time I look out!

Amen to Mindset is everything. Love the wolves and would like to have one. I hope they are all happy in their new homes. sad there are so few of them left.
ReplyDeleteThe picture of the goldfish is great. Sometimes you have to look below the surface to realize the outward demeaner is no more than a defense.
ReplyDeleteWe had something similar to your wolf sculptures around here but with horses. We love your sparks but with the amount of snow we're getting today (12-18 inches) we wouldn't call it beautiful. There is a lot to shovel just for our walk ways. Thankfully we have a contract with a plow company to do our driveway.
ReplyDeleteThe wolf likeness is really amazing! Those Sparks are so good, love that mindset!
ReplyDeleteIt's always heartbreaking to know of so many species are dwindling in numbers. Lovely photo capture Miss C
ReplyDeleteLove the wolves too. We must protect our wildlife.
ReplyDeleteKindness is my word of the year and your Spark made me smile.

ReplyDeleteThat is cool about the Red Wolf Ramble! Your Sparks are right on! The little goldfish is too cute :)
ReplyDeleteGreat funnies :) It is sad about wolves just trying to live and humans ruining everything for them.
ReplyDeleteThe red wolf looks cool.
ReplyDeleteThat Spark about kindness is awesome. We loved learning more about the red wolf and hope the programs designed to save them are successful. Here's hoping life is OK in NC and you have power.
