Here is today's inspiration
There is so much to see
My Mind's Eye decided
to pick three.
Just how creative
can I be.
Will pops of red catch my eye
Or the chandeliers hanging high?
Will dial tones
of the landlines from long ago
ring in my ear ?
Will my fingers recall
the glee of learning to dial a
ro-ta-ry?
Today I am also joining
Thankful and happy to report I was 1 of 6 firsties at Teddy's Tuesday Teaser on February 15. A new world record was set too 6 firsties in 60 seconds. The magic time was 8:14 am.
Finally this old bird was early enough to catch the worm and win a Firstie Prize
it is like sitting in a time machine...and we remember so much things in such a store... a benefit of age, we neve have to ask what thing it is...we just know it ;O)
ReplyDeleteLove it. And your poetry is top notch!! I love the fact of reminscing of the golden olden age of my growing up.
ReplyDeleteThat is a very loaded and busy shop and your poem is perfect!
ReplyDeleteHari OM
ReplyDeleteHit the nail head with that one! YAM xx
I remember those old rotary phones. We didn't have one but our neighbour did. She was the only one in the street and if anybody needed to make an important phone call they would go to her. Her daughter was my friend, we were probably 7 or 8 when she got the phone which was a party line. We used to have fun listening in to other conversations until her mother caught us!
ReplyDeleteGosh, those type of stores are always a hit with me. I love to see what they have. Rarely the really old things...those are in the antique stores but when I come to Charlotte, there are two consignment stores I LOVE and never fail to go to. Sometimes there are old things in those two stores. Most times it seems the things inside are not much farther back than the 50's. Estate holdings I would imagine.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, remembering (like Jackie) the rotary phones ... ours was an 8-party line but we kids were mostly NOT allowed to use it and of course, it rang all the time ... eight different ring tones ... you'd only answer if it was "yours" ...
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect poem for the photo this week! Angel Sammy will be proud of you when he reads it. LOL Also a HUGE congratulations to you for being one of the SIX Firsties on Teaser Tuesday. No small feat as you know since every week it debuts at a different time. You must have been sitting right there waiting for the "DING" when an email comes in!! LOL BRAVO FOR YOU MY FRIEND..................
ReplyDeleteHugs, Pam
I love your poem. I always love your poems. Have you seen the kids trying to figure out how to use a rotary phone? It's a most entertaining video.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous Thankful Thursday, honey. Big hugs. ♥
What a great poem today, very fitting. I also can see so much in this picture!!
ReplyDeleteOh you already know I would love to go thru there and look.
ReplyDeleteI like the poem.

ReplyDeleteThat was such a fun poem and a darn fast thankful too MOL! Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
ReplyDeleteGreat poem. I miss the old rotary phones. Congrats on being a first commenter. XO
ReplyDeleteThat was a great photo and fun poem. ConCats on being one of the six firsties with our Mom!
ReplyDeleteCongrats for being Super Speedy at The Teaser! Those pops of red are hard to ignore! The turquoise vases got to me, don't know why.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great poem for that picture. We like how you picked a few things to write about.
ReplyDeleteNow, imagine Dad's workshop in the garage, except those vases would be filled with nuts and bolts and screws and nails and washers and hinges and parts from a vacuum cleaner from 1989 and instead of Buddhas and chandeliers there would be power tools and fishing rods and Mr. Bones Daily keeping watch over it all! Oh and a canoe hanging from the rafters too! And maybe GW's car squeezed way over on the other side ... Well I think you get the picture. Instead of a lovely poem like you wrote, there would be fossil rock music playing.
