For many in NC, there is simply no other kind of Christmas Tree. It is grown in such abundance in NC that it accounts for more than 99% of holiday tree species in our state, making it the most popular Christmas tree species.

when we purchased live Christmas trees we always bought a Fraser Fir from Clay's a local nursery not far from home. When we arrived at Clay's, we parked the car near the Christmas tree lot. An employee asked if he could help. Our daughter quickly said we are here to buy our Christmas tree. He asked type of tree do you want? I replied, loudly we want a
Furser Fray
Time stood still for about a nanosecond, the employee looked confused, my daughter and husband were laughing their heads off. I was the only one without a clue why they had the reactions. They told the guy she means
Fraser Fir
That is what I said. They said NOPE you said Furser Fray. Everyone had a great belly laugh we found the perfect tree.
As it is with loved ones...I am constantly reminded at anytime of year about this. Truth be told I still randomly reverse words, I talk very fast...my brain has a hard time keeping up
As the old saying goes, 'my tongue was wrapped around my eye teeth and I could not see what I was saying'!!

his sweet diva... so great to see you... we have a new name now for the tree... is furser fray... forever... marked in our memory...like the story of the bumble bee sweater LOL
ReplyDeleteThe Fraser fir, and the Nordmann fir are the most popular Christmas trees in the UK. That was funny about the furser fray. I am glad I am not the only one who gets my words muddled at times.
ReplyDeleteSweet flashback of Angel Madi.
that is a beautiful tree, and Maybe they should change the name to your name. ha ha, I can imagine their faces when you said it. I don't muddle my words, I simply forget them and try to describe what word I need someone to tell me.. dear sweet Madi, upside down or not we loved you
ReplyDeleteLove the tree, perfect. Madi, I know exactly how you felt.
ReplyDeleteHari Om
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely tree, indeed! Sweet memory shares, too. YAM xx
LOL, That sounds like something I would do but instead myproblem is having two different word options in my brain and they come out of my mouth as one combined word. Frasier firs are beautiful trees.
ReplyDeleteWe only do artificial trees here but if we bought a live one, it would be a Fraser Fir and we loved your Furser Fray funny☺
ReplyDeleteGreat fun post this morning. I often miss say the wrong word also but I don't think it's because I talk too fast. I'm probably a very slow talker.
ReplyDeleteHow cool to have a state magazine! The Fraser Fur is popular here too but Mom stopped getting a real tree years ago. It was a lot of mess and a lot of work so we go with our fake one.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun story. I'm sure we all make mistakes like that periodically. That's a fun flashback from Madi too.
ReplyDeleteI come here for the nonsense!!! And the things I learn here, and the kitties, and the comments and all the good stuff! Furser Frays are beautiful sturdy trees. A fun flashback with Angel Madi. I did a Madi last night🙂
ReplyDeleteA new header and Kit's Madi ornament image is adorable!
DeleteHilarious story!!! Wish I had been there! 😹
ReplyDeleteLove the new header❣️
