Words are intriguing. I love reading in all forms. I always wonder about the origin of the names of people, towns, streets, books just everything. So imagine my glee, while browsing through my November Reader's Digest, I happened upon this article,
"The Secret Lives of Letters", by Brooke Nelson. Mr. or Ms. Nelson says letters may be small characters, but there are amazing stories behind all 26 alphabet all-stars.
I'll be sharing these 26 stories with you today beginning with A and B.
As always, this Thanksgiving morning's newspaper was full of
in total as thick as the book I am reading AND HEAVIER
ALL OF THE ADVERTISEMENT WENT STRAIGHT TO OUR RECYCLE BIN.
IF I HAD TO GUESS, I'D SAY THEY WEIGHED CLOSE TO A POUND
We are guessing the book is a more satisfying read than the mountain of deals.

Ashamed to say we don't get a paper. I love all the letters because they make words into sentences in books, blogs, and notes from friends and family that I love to read. Thank heavens for our alphabet!

our deals come in our mail box, because no one here gets the news paper any more. used to have one in every driveway, in the mile that I walk there are 2 newspapers. they started sending the stack in the mail box, but ours is not nearly as big as yours. I did not knot that about the letters and it is very interesting. when I read, sometimes I get up and look at a street or a building that is described in the book. or listen to a song that they person in the book is playing on the radio.... I love Sandra Brown

Some of the slick paper ads are not recyclable in our town! The Hubby is very mad about that; he wants the slick paper banned.
ReplyDeleteI pay a small fortune for my newspaper subscription and the Sunday issue is the only substantial one. A lot of the news is on their website. Did I mention I hate reading the news online?

We look forward to learning more about all the letters of the alphabet. Our Black Friday ad section was bigger than yours. Ours also goes straight into the recycle bin.

ReplyDeleteMom used to read Sandra Brown all the time - maybe she needs to check her out again.
As for that Thanksgiving newspaper - Mom did all her puzzles and left all the ads for the adult kids to enjoy.

ReplyDeleteIt is interesting about the letters, but it seems that B is very underused. Only twice in that sentence excluding the capital compared with 9 Ts!

We don't gets as many ads or coupons as we used to....we thinks the paper dude 'thins' the papers so he doesn't have to lift as much. Can't complain, cause there is no one to complain to anymore. That's okay, soon they will be gone all together. Better for the trees anyhu!
