Thoroughly Poetic Thursday #5

Today we join Two  SPOILED CATS
Angel Sammy and Teddy for their poetic pictorial poem.

Here is today's inspiration

Way back in the fifties, style choices were iffy.
No matter the weather,
the gals had to wear dresses.
Only when the weather was messy,
could we wear slacks under our dresses.
The slacks had to come off before our classes.
If you were nimble,
jumpin' double rope was no problem.
If you lost concentration, it would lead to trouble.
You were sent to the nurse for a scrub and some
LOVE.

  1. oh good to know the trick to skip school. our nurse rarely sent someone home, you had to carry your head under your arms or you had to stay LOL

  3. Mom remembers the dresses well and she loved to jump rope but not double. I guess she lost concentration☺

  6. In England we always called it 'skipping', never 'jumping rope'. Yet another example of those differences in language use that one never hears about!
    Cheers, Gail.

  7. That is a great poem for that picture. Our mom says she remembers jumping rope a lot but she never did double dutch.

  9. I went to school where the girls wore dresses. I didn't know any different. Remember when they measured if they thought your dress was too short. I do too. Love the walk down memory lane.

Have a fabulous day, honey. Big hug. ♥

  12. Brings back memories. In First Grade--we had no kindergarten--the year seven girls came down each morning and afternoon to help us on with our snow pants, jackets, scarves, hats and boots! Amazingly, I don't remember being cold while playing outside with bare legs.
