We call those surprise lilies here in MS. Lycoris squamigera, the resurrection lily or surprise lily, is a plant in the amaryllis family, Amaryllidaceae, subfamily Amaryllidoideae. It is also sometimes referred to as naked ladies. It is believed to have originated in Japan or China.
we love the howl-oween edition... and we had the same thought as we saw the kitty... maybe a cousin?

ReplyDeleteThe structure of those flowers resemble the alium species - but the floral head is too loose for that - possibly a nerine? (no leaves is unusual). Shame the cat didn't know! YAM xx
those long pods look exactly like wisteria seed pods. Usually wisteria is a vine. Some people manage to get it to be shaped like a tree.

We agree that these look like wisteria pods and the pinkish flowers resemble spider lily that mom has only ever seen in Louisiana and that was a longggggggggggg time ago. Your neighborhood sure does have the best Halloween decorations!
