Thoroughly Poetic and Thankful Thursday #138

Poetic Thursday hosted by our pals Teddy and Angel Sammy

The work on my desk is done.

I was ready to take a much needed rest.

I left a note, on vacation

I cannot be reached

at this undisclosed location.

Upon my return, what I saw on my desk

caused me great distress.

Here is today's photo.

I am thankful to report that we both had our flu (September 26) and
Moderna Covid (September 28) vaccines.  This was our first time getting the Moderna vaccine. I realized this year's Covid vaccines have new ingredients to combat the new variants and everyone is effected differently by all injections.

Moderna injection was painless...about 10 pm on the 28th we both had very sore arms.  My arm was itching.  On Friday 29th both of us awoke quite tired we rested all day. During the day Friday, I noticed a dime size rash where my injection was given. By evening it was about the size of a half dollar.   My husband did not have a rash. Saturday I went by the pharmacy to ask the pharmacist about it.  She told me 1 in 6 people will have reactions to any and all injections.  Rash can list 24 hours to possibly a week.
Thus far my son-in-law and my sister-in-law are also in the Elite 1% Club.
By Saturday evening we were both about 99% normal.
I had a delightful Moderna induced dream too:

"There was a hole on the bedroom wall close to the ceiling. Each time I looked at the hole, an adorable monkey🐒 with a very sweet face would peep out at me".
All is well that ends well.  We got a great giggle out of it too.
I am the only one in the Elite 1% to dream about
PRIMATES

  1. LOL, LOL!!! A monkey🐒spying on you, OMC!!!

I have all Moderna Covid Vaccines, but no wacky dreams...🐒

That was a fun poem!! Yup, sometimes stuff piles up when you're not there to deal with it as it comes in. Hubby knew all about that, when he was a working dude. Retired, he still gets loaded down. Self imposed workaholic! Sheesh!

  2. all of our past Covids were Moderna and no reaction. there might be something new this one, we have yet to get ours. flu was good. we also need the RVS or whatever that is. Love the poem and your poem is the reason I always took my vacation days connected to both sides of the week end. that way I could have 4 days off but miss only two days of things piling up
I just got an email from Ann and went to Brians blog, he is very sick

Oh my, your words and that image brought flashbacks... there was one job I had where it really wasn't worth taking a vacation!

I am one of the limited crowd who reacts very, very badly to vaccinations of all sorts, so cannot have them. Sorry you had a glimpse of how it can be. Then again, fun imaginings of critters isn't so bad, I suppose! YAM xx

  4. That's a great poem and a job that nobody wants to have. We're glad to hear you came out of your vaccine incident with no major harm. That must have been one funny dream to see a monkey smiling at you. BOL!

  5. Monkey dreams huh? All of my Covid vaccines have been Moderna and DARN IT - no monkeys!!! LOL Anyway, I'm waiting for a Moderna Covid this time but there are no pharmacies in my town YET that have it. I always have a sore arm from shots but occasionally the red/rash kind of thing happens. I had the same explanation from my pharmacist too! Guess it just comes with the territory. Love your POEM - it's perfect for the photo this week which reminded me of my old working days which I'm happy to say are WAY WAY WAY far away in my "rear view mirror" !!

    Love and Hugs, Pam

  9. We are holding out for Pfizer. My last booster was Pfizer with only a sore arm. Other covid shots were Moderna and I felt like I had been run over by a herd of hippos each time. My arm was angry and had bump like a small avocado. Was like that a couple of weeks. Got our flu shots Sept 13, no reaction. Jerry never has a reaction to flu or covid vaccine. The monkey dream is funny... not surprised with that party in your head!!! Glad you both are feeling better.

  10. We had our Covid boosters on Monday with no reactions. We had our flu shots today and both have stiff and sore arms. No dreams of monkeys either!

  11. I sure am glad to have the flu shot. I got it sooner than usual...meaning I always had several weeks wait to get it after calling for an appt. I get mine at the doctor's office.

  12. Glad you got your vaccines. My hubby did both together and regretted it. He was feeling sick for a few days and had 2 sore arms. I will go one at a time. Funny dream. XO

  15. If I came back from vacation to something like that, I think I'd be tempted to resign. Good poem.

It is that time of year again, I need to get to the pharmacy next week.

  16. I have a great (unpaid) helper who keeps my desk either cleared or sorted and tidy when I'm away. (No, not Lucy, although I'm sure she would if she could.) Sorry about your reaction to the vaccine, but glad all of you are over it. A monkey sticking it's head out of a hole in a wall would have been Lexi's nightmare. (She was terrified of the Oz monkeys.)
