Lovely photos of the pelican. We have Alostremia growing wild on hedgerows here. I can only assume that birds have scattered seeds everywhere because it really doesn't look like a wild flower.
that cardinal is one my mother would make me buy her one is she were still on this earth. beautiful flowers and pelicans. once about 15 years ago, I saw white pelicans like this for as far as the eye could see, thousands of them, walk, floating, flying. it was an amazing sight. they were at the mouth of our river where the gulf meets the river. a one time thing
That Rose mallow is an absolutely incredible color. And yes you had the whirly gig going with that breeze. Do you really get to see pelicans when you take a walk? I've only been lucky enough to see them twice in my life after a very very long trip.
I'm slow on the uptake in the mornings. I know now the pelicans were out west! Not on your EMW. I did see white pelicans when we went to Yellowstone years ago.

There's always lots to see, at the water or on an EMW, if you keep your eyes peeled.
