Thoroughly Poetic and Thankful Thursday #265

 Today we join

SHE DREAMED OF A HOUSEBOAT
SAILING THE WATERS OF THE BAYOU
TO AND FRO SHE WOULD FLOAT
DOCKING AT EXOTIC PLACES
MEETING NEW PEOPLE
MUCH TO HER DISMAY THIS BOAT
COULD NOT EVEN FLOAT TO THE
MOAT

Thankful for a very good electrician who came last week to repair
the 2 small 'mushroom' lights along our drive way and sidewalk.
For many years, they have been leaning and barely visible.
They are on the same switch as the lantern.
So many repairmen are not willing to come out for small jobs.  This was a small job with a very big improvement
Our driveway is steep.  Nice to have it well lit after dark.

LOL, good take on the photo prompt... which made me want to have a go at that doer-upper!

Your driveway looks fabulous - and yes, getting those small but not DIY jobs done can be a challenge (says she who still has two ceilings needing seen to.....sigh...) YAM xx

  3. That was a super good poem......! We have similar lights on our driveway and are happy to have them although we're not out in the dark much these days. Still, it looks pretty to have them doesn't it!

  4. Cute poem. I have a small electrical job I need taken care of and I'm wondering if it'll be easy to find someone to do it. Glad you got your lights fixed.

  5. Good news you can find someone to come fix the lights. And yes they certainly look like they help along the driveway plus they look so pretty. Like your poem this morning it's making me laugh. That houseboat certainly does not look like it would withstand much

  6. Sometimes you get so used to things not working you just forget about fixing them. It will be really nice in the dark times of year for you to have that light.

  7. My days of being a homeowner are long gone, but do remember the need for all those little things needing to be done. Thankful Thursday ~ and thanks to all those folks out there who'd come and do them!

  13. Enjoyed the poem! That little houseboat needs some love and care. Maybe a major redo or complete do over. If it could only talk. It's hard to find people to do small jobs but you manage to find good people!

  17. No such thing as Handy Man service any longer. hasn't been in several (or more), decades. You have to keep asking, pleading, going through every written source there is and you still take your chances. I found one who agreed to paint (stain) my deck's privacy fence. I asked if he knew anyone willing to take off four room doors ad refinish them. They are the original wood when the house was built in '53. He said he would. He is about to change out the front door for me. It will have to be painted. He said he'll do everything. The young people who came up from- say- the 70's forward had no desire to learn from their Dad or others, to fix things. So it became a dead art.

  18. I loved the poem and very happy you got someone to come in and do those lights. They do a very important job, electrician and those lights. Happy day to you Cecilia, hugs, Denise

  20. Yes, I imagine the girl who wanted a houseboat was thoroughly disappointed, LOL! Your driveway looks just like ours. Now you have me thinking about getting the lights for ours, too. My hesitation is the neighbor boys having to mow around them. Any thoughts?
