In case I am MIA just wanted you to know the weather geeks here are predicting
the next Ice Age to arrive here startin late last night into all day Sunday
on into Monday. We sit on the cusp of the line that could be several inches of snow or
worse freezing rain and sleet. Saturday my friend in FL told me she saw power trucks heading north up I95 so they arrive ahead of the storm.
Hopefully power will remain on because we are 100% certain it it gonna be cold and damp. Just not sure of the form of damp.
We awoke to a winter wonderland....about 4" on the ground still snowing
looks like NO freezing rain or sleet for us.
11 am our power has blinked on an off several times...We might disappear...

What gorgeous snippets! Stay safe and warm.
ReplyDeleteLove your snippets! I am not believing that picture! I am glad you are with power now and have my fingers crossed it stays that way. It's a lovely winter wonderland you have there but I will be happy when you are clear of all that precip!!!!
ReplyDeletehope the ice is missing you and that you have power and are save. that is not a heron, but either and anhinga or a pelican I think. great snippets. waiting to hear what eilieen will say the bird is.... could not see the second one, would not populate

ReplyDeleteMore snippets like these please! YAM xx
That snow is pretty from my warm, dry room!
ReplyDeleteAs many times I go birding & photograph them, I don't think it's either pelican, anhinga, OR heron. The wing shape is all wrong for those mentioned. The wings look like a cormorant.
I agree. We get a lot of cormorants in this area, and the spread wings is a common stance for them.
DeleteYou have more snow than we do right now! We are keeping our paws crossed that the snow doesn't get too deep for all of you and your power stays on.
ReplyDeleteWe have some snow, but not that much. We are whatching the weather reports about your storm. Sit tight and stay warm!
ReplyDeleteCormorants are very strange birds in that they shouldn't be able to fly as they are quite heavy boned. As they are water birds, wet wings make them even heavier, so when they are not gathering food, they will let their wings dry out.
ReplyDeleteLove that snow photo, but I hope we are not getting any snow until Christmas and even then just for show.
We are getting there. Started just after 7 this morning.
ReplyDeleteI hope your power stays on! Looks like we missed the worst of it down this way.
ReplyDeleteI agree that it is a cormorant. The snow looks pretty, but rather you than me! I hope you don't lose power.
ReplyDeleteWow, that's a good amount of snow! Hope your power stays on!

It is gorgeous when it first falls. And, as I remember, quiet and muffled. Then comes the reality of slush. May it not freeze into ice.
ReplyDeleteI love that last photo! We have no snow (but it is COLD) and our power went on and off like crazy yesterday and the day before! Hope your power stays on!
ReplyDeleteStay warm and safe!

Oh, it looks heavenly to us. But we sure hope you still have power. From what we see on the news, it is a monster storm. Stay safe and warm.
ReplyDeleteWoos - Lightning, Misty, and Timber
OH! Stay safe, and with all of your power too!
ReplyDeleteThat last picture is really beautiful. We hope you stay safe and warm - looks like it's our turn to send power trucks up to y'all. Gotta love mutal aid agreements.
ReplyDeleteWe heard about the big snow storm that is hitting all of you south of us. We hope you all stay safe and warm.
ReplyDeleteHope your power stays on and you stay warm and dry

The snow is pretty. I hope you didn't lose power.XO
ReplyDeleteOh, I hopes your power stays on! As long as you can have power, it doesn't make it seem as bad. Though...that is coming from CA, where the coldest it gets here is in the 20's! BOL
ReplyDeleteStay warm and dry my friends!
Kisses,
Ruby ♥
I hate snow. Hate ice even more.
ReplyDeleteOoo, you got the snow I wanted! Xena
ReplyDeleteBetter you than us. Although it really is a winter wonderland. Amy
