maybe it is a wasp trap, but I sure have no guess, just read someone else guess. odd jar and box.. you have given me an idea, wasp are building nest like crazy on the front porch, bob knocks down the nest and they are back 3 days later.. we need a trap
ReplyDeleteThat thing behind the mailbox is weird, no clue what that could be. It doesn't make any sense from what we can see in the photo.

ReplyDeleteI love the lending library! I see a few of them around town, one on a nearby street. I'm not sure how well used ours are, though!
Someone also has a seed library, though I'm not sure if the homeowners get any takers for that.
We got old phoneboxes for books to take end give in Norway

We had no idea what the jar attached to the mailbox was but reading through the comments, a wasp jar makes sense! We don't see little free libraries in our neighborhood. Maybe it's because the library is only a mile away.

Upon close inspection we agree with some of the others and think the thing on the mailbox is a wasp trap.

Clueless on the little "jar" but definitely NOT clueless on the wonderful "library boxes" that are popping up EVERYWHERE! We have them in many locations around town and the suburbs here and they are wonderful - what a GREAT idea.

We have a little library in our neighborhood like that too! When the weather's nice, the folks who live there also put out a basket with more books. I also think the jars' to trap stingy insects. Let us know if you find out!
