This past week the triple digit feels like returned. My goal is to take at
least 3 walks a week for 30-45 minutes.
One of EMWs was inside our air conditioned huge mall.
Mall opens for walkers at 6:30 am. Stores open between 9 am and 10 am.
I walked 2 1/2 laps around the bottom level. Each lap is 16 min.,
I made 4,702 steps. Before Covid we walked at the mall 5 days a week.
This was my first long walk in the mall since January 2020.
I'd rather walk outside but this is a nice alternative.

ReplyDeleteWell done for not letting theat hinder the health walks! YAM xx
...err... "the heat" ... did I just create a new contraction?! Yxx
ReplyDeleteThat is good that the mall opens early for walkers so they have somewhere cool for their exercise. Well done to them!
ReplyDeleteHave sometimes thought of being a "mall walker", but OMC ... it's an hour drive to get to the mall, so seems almost silly to even consider! But good for you ...
ReplyDeleteHey there Cecilia and thanks for checking in on us. This trip took some time to recuperate from and this is the most time we've spent in blogland since returning. We'll get it. Anyway, we've had those kinds of temps up here, too, and the a/c's been running more than the human bill-payers would like. Dad says he generally walks anywhere from 13,000 to 22,000 steps on a normal work day at his boss's property. He said yesterday while out mowing & trimming his shorts, shirt and unmentionables got soaked completely through and he felt like a wet wooly mammoth by the end of the day with a nice coating of grass clippings, dust & dirt on top of that. So we'll get going on a new post soon. I promise. Have a great weekend and stay as cool as you can.
ReplyDeleteThere are times I wish I lived in a bigger city and would have an indoor alternative. Here it's take the weather whichever way it comes if I want to go out and take a walk.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great store logo/design!
ReplyDeleteWe have one two level mall here, also open early for mall walkers. It's one of the main bus transfer points, so anytime I'm there early on a weekend in between buses, I see quite a few mall walkers. They put me to shame, as I've slowed down with the foot and knee osteoarthritis. I even see a few doing laps with their walkers, and I'm SO impressed that they keep moving, keep going. I hope I will too!
I LIKE THAT SIGN and would love to walk in our mall, if only it was open...
ReplyDeleteIf it's too hot to walk outside, your mall works out well for exercise!
ReplyDeleteI would really really love to mall walk and it be open to walkers. No such thing. The only walking I could do is here at home (or outside of course.)....and I do that frequently. I hurt my knees pretty severely a month ago..just getting over that.
ReplyDeleteDearest Cecilia,
ReplyDeleteYou are indeed lucky for having an indoor mall at hand!
I've not been walking post accident as I need to sit down and cannot go on.
With the foldable wheelchair that was great but I cannot fold, neither unfold it on my own so that option is gone since I lost my Pieter.
Hugs,
Mariette + Kitties
You're lucky to have the mall to do your walks on these dog days of summer. It's too hot here to take walks outside as well.
ReplyDeleteWell done. I think it's nice you have this alternative. There have been a few days when I just couldn't force myself to go out to walk...some days I cut my walk short because I was running out of water in my bottle. I've been busy the last 2 days and haven't been out, so must get some steps in today. We have to just keep trying. Good luck to you.
ReplyDeleteGood for you, walking inside a cool place where the hots are not around!
ReplyDeleteBravo to you for walking ~ Ziggy and I have walked shorter walker by the harbor during the excess humidity ~
ReplyDeleteThanks for you Happy Birthday Wishes ~ much appreciated ~ hugs,
Hugs to you Cecilia and Angel Madi ~
Wishing you good health, laughter and love in your days,

In this heat it's good to have a place to go and get your walk in.
ReplyDeleteKuddos to you for walking. I am a sloth. XO
ReplyDeleteMall walking is a great way to get your exercise. Well done! Sending hugs :)
ReplyDeleteYou always find the most interesting things to post
ReplyDeleteThat's wonderful the mall owners are accommodating to walkers! Maybe it helps the stores get more exposure, too. I enjoy walking but never thought about doing it in a mall...
ReplyDeleteThe gnomes and birdhouses are beautiful although I am very sad about the tree.
ReplyDeleteThank you for showing off how much Madi enjoyed the refurbished cat tree and linking up with Feline Friday!
Mall walking is something I've heard of but never tried. Maybe someday.
