Happy Tuesday stroll through Cameron Village

Thank you to our

We thank our Hostess Sandee at

 Comedy Plus

Photos snapped during a stroll thru Cameron Village (opened in October 1949) the oldest shopping center in Raleigh.

This is the same shopping center from last week's Cafe Carolina Review HERE

I shared many of the new things happening to spruce up this 75 year old shopping center.

It is within 2 miles of NCSU aka Wolf Pack Country's campus.  I'm not sure what the purpose is but FOR SURE IT IS FUN.  So many young folks have never seen a pay phone.
Maybe it is for selfies.

This colorful display sits by the phone booth.

Goodnight's Comedy Club was the first comedy club in Raleigh.  Many years ago we saw many up and coming comedians.  Even Ray Ramona  (aka star of TV's
Everybody loves Raymond) made several appearances at Goodnight's.
Our daughter and then beau (now husband) saw his routine.
It has moved from the original location to Cameron Village

Happy Tuesday indeed.

  8. I love it! the phone booth and would have had to take a selfie or find someone to take one of me in it. I looked up the phone number, to see what it means and found its the NO football team. I am happy to hear they are saving the old mall. Ours was built in 1970 and now sits on 7 acres of concrete with chains on the doors and just going to rack and ruin... there has to be something they can put in that old beautiful building

  11. Finding a payphone or a phone booth is always a cool thing, but most of them, if you can even find them are in terrible shape. We love that they kept this one and it seems to be well kept. The younger generation doesn't even know what it is!

  12. What a cute part of your city you found. Not only is a phone booth a novel thing but it has a rotary dial and not push buttons!

  17. what a neat place! the phone booth reminded me of the phones you could call
on, that were in some states, on the interstate, in case you had car trouble’s etc.

  19. The red phone booth looks a lot like the one Mom has in her Christmas Dept. 56 Dickens Village collection. But not as nicely decorated. Bet that red caught YOUR eye.

  21. How beautifully that phone booth is fixed up! It ages me to say I used to use phone booths, so I won't say it, LOL Growing up, my next door neighbors were the Goodnights. Very hillbilly in a non-hillbilly city. I have lots of memories of them and their Collie Lassie and tiger cat Spooky.
