We thank our Hostess Sandee at
Recently we had another wonderful winged sighting on our
cul de sac
a Great Blue Heron was strolling around
Wait just a few seconds on the video the Heron will appear coming from behind bushes
We have two good size lakes, Shelley Lake and Lake Lynn, within 2 or 3 miles of our neighborhood.
Not really sure why Mr. G.B. Heron decided made a rest stop but glad he did.

That’s really cool! Here are some fun facts about blue herons:
ReplyDeleteTo keep cool they flutter their throat muscles to increase evaporation.
It can take up to two weeks to build a nest.
Life expectancy of a great blue heron is 15-23 years
Despite their size they can fly as fast as 30 MPH.
An adult heron consumes up to one pound of fish per day,
a heron is the sign of good luck!! how great!
ReplyDeleteCooly out for a stroll
ReplyDeleteLovely photo and video of the heron. They walk so stealthily that they always make me smile.
ReplyDeleteWow!!! 😮 I have NEVER seen a heron just out for a stroll, I've only seen them at the edges of water, hunting for their next meal. That would have made my day!
ReplyDeleteHari OM
ReplyDeleteWhat an exciting visitor!Though I do hope it was okay and nothing untoward had caused the drop by... YAM xx
He must have heard there were tasty snacks on your street!
ReplyDeleteHow cool is that. It sure would be exciting seeing one of those stroll through my yard. When he comes into view in the video he looks huge.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful sighting. I wouldn't doubt that he's one from way up here North heading for warmer climates for the winter. Sometimes they get food early in the mornings by rooftops thinking that those are actually ponds.
ReplyDeleteGood looking bird going for a walk I guess.
ReplyDeleteNeat. You know we have a creek and they are sometimes up in the woods by it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great find, C. I can imagine how excited you must have been to see that beautiful bird, I would be just as excited!
ReplyDeletehugs,
Beth
How cool to have a heron wandering around. You must have lots of the herons favorite food in your neighborhood.
ReplyDeleteWow! Amazing to see that heron ~ thought they were only seen near water ~ hugs,
ReplyDeleteHugs to you and Angel Madi ~ xo
Such a beautiful and graceful birds. I love to watch them fish for their dinner. Such patience.
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday. Love and hugs to Auntie C and Kit and lots of scritches to the kitties. ♥
I saw his little noggin in the first few seconds of the video. I just love GBHs... well, except when—you know :) It is so much fun to see them just wandering around your neighborhood. We have a GBH, Horatio, and a Great Egret, Checkers that visit daily at the small pond in the front of the house. If I don't see them my day just isn't right... HA! Fun video, Cecilia!
ReplyDeleteFall is beautiful up your way!
Deletethere’s a …pond…behind my mom’s house and heron always stop by for
ReplyDeletefrog …legs…this summer swan were in it; the neighborhood doesn’t keep
it clean in my opinion, and frankly if I was any type of water fowl, Id report it‼️😸🤎🧡
That is a very cool visitor!!! We use to have a couple of herons living at our lake but I think they must have found a better place.
ReplyDeleteThey are such handsome birds, I'm glad he stopped by, too.
ReplyDeleteHerons are cool birds. XO
ReplyDeleteWow, cool photo. Heron seems rather tame.
ReplyDeleteI love how they 'strut'!
ReplyDeleteI see them often where I live. There are lots of small lakes and ponds and creeks. Too bad they are usually elusive creatures and very shy of people. So you were very blessed to have one strolling around your home!
they are fun to watch, awkward but really quick grabbing frogs and liars. cute video
ReplyDeleteXena: Chia walks like that bird.
ReplyDeleteChia: I do not!
Mom Amy: It was always nice to see them on the lake and TN river when I had my little pontoon.
