Impressive!
ReplyDeleteWith the so far cool and wet summer, it has apparently been a bad year for butterflies here in the UK.

ReplyDeleteOOOOOHHHHHHH, dat are beautifurs! YAM xx
wow they are big guys... and they are a little like sunshine ... maybe the mailman of the sun who brings some rays to us and to all flowers...
ReplyDeleteThey're starting to show up where dad works now as there are two butterfly bushes right in front of the main house. Hope you are staying cool, Cecilia.
ReplyDeletewe have seen really large ones in the past but so far none of these are here. we are just beginning to see several different types now because all the rain has the jungle growing
ReplyDeleteThey are such gorgeous butterflies!
ReplyDeleteWe are lucky here that we do see a lot of the tiger swallowtails because of all of our trees. I am disappointed that it's this late into July and I have still not seen a monarch
ReplyDeleteButterflies are all so beautiful. We love seeing them, but haven't seen any yet this year.
ReplyDeleteHe or she is gorgeous, great photo captures!
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful! We have not seen any Swallowtails but we have seen more butterflies than usual. We were not seeing many at all before this summer.
ReplyDeleteDearest Cecilia,
ReplyDeleteLiving here in late summer of 1983, my Pieter took a photo of such a huge Eastern Swallowtail and wrote to his Mother: butterflies are as big as birds and birds as small as butterflies—hummingbirds.
It is one of summer's many wonders!

ReplyDeleteHow beautiful! I can see them floating around the backyard some mornings, but haven't been able to get close enough for a picture.
ReplyDeletehugs,

So beautiful!!! Did we tell you about Timber finding one on Mom's pentas and just staring at it for a few minutes? The butterfly did not move, and Timber decided to taste it. Once he got it inside his mouth, he did NOT like the feel and immediately released the unharmed butterfly.
ReplyDeleteWoos - Misty and Timber
I have to tell you that you got some perfect snaps this morning. Loved every one.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen a butterfly that big!
