Top of this Tuesday Morning to you all!
I'd like to share a non-fiction story about 2 boxes.
This story began 15 years ago but since that was BM (before Madi)
I'll start where I left off on July 4, 2014.
If you missed that spine tingling story click here
I spent my morning watching my peeps plant a new mail box and post. I must admit they made fast, efficient work of the planting too.
This is one scary picture of our BM (before Madi) mailbox.
It was a trusted and true friend and kept our mail safe and dry..
but alas it was time for it to be put out to 'pasture'.
As you can see the mailbox platform was about to fall of the post...
in fact when Dad gave the post one tug the box went kerplunk
on the street. Mom has 'old' on the picture to cover up
the avian poop.

Mom and Dad decided to plant the new post on July 4th since there is no mail delivery and it would give the cement time to set.
It is ok if you MOL/BOL/LOL. It was as funny looking in person as in the photo. After dad tried 87 million times
to get it level, he was successful so he braced it from 4 sides before pouring the cement.
2
He removed the braces at 7pm on Friday
We are happy to report it is officially up and in use.
We rec'd our very first mail delivery on 7/5/14.
Dad spent the last 3 weeks priming and painting the post.
FYI: watching paint dry in a humid climate is very very boring.
We hope the avian population will refrain from pooping on
the shiny gold ball.

We bet those birds are even more attracted to it. MOL!
ReplyDeleteVery smart of your Dad to do this project on a no-delivery day.
Happy Tuesday to our favorite tuxie.
XOXO from your besties, Princeton and Precious.
The new mailbox looks awesome - it was effort well spent!
ReplyDeleteYour peeps did a pawesome job with that planting!
ReplyDeleteSmileys!

It is a most handsome post and box Miss Madi. We do so love American post boxes with their little red flag thingys - we don't have post boxes like that here, in fact we don't even have a post box at our house because we don't get street delivery, instead mom has to schlep in to the actual Post Office where we have a box and collect our post from there.
ReplyDeleteTell dad we say "good job"
Wally & Sammy
Da new mailbox looks nice!
ReplyDeleteThe new mailbox posts looks pawesome, though we don't think the birds are going to buy into your plan. They're pretty unruly.
ReplyDeleteLooking fab Madi! and we know about the bracing of such things hahaha :) it stands proudly I see awaiting avian fly bys! hahaah hugs and loves Fozziemum xxx
ReplyDeleteThis was such an action packed post, we need a nap. We hope the avian population avoids your new mailbox. Around her we think they aim for new stuff!!
ReplyDeleteHugs, your guy Raz and The Florida Furkids
LOL....that very last statement I can relate. Not that I poop...but the avian ability to hit everything shiny. Y'know?
ReplyDeleteWhat a great job on the new mail post! How many HBO words were used during the process?
ReplyDeleteWe love the photo looking up at your house. Your house is very pretty.
Hugs,
Lily Belle & Muffin
OMD Madi..... this is a Post about... a POST... We think that is brilliant.
ReplyDeleteMaybe if you WAX the pretty Knob at the top... the Birds will Slide off before they can poop... or at least the Poops would slide off. Birds are sort of RUDE about where they poop. BUTT we Digresss...
THAT is a BEAUTIFUL new Mail Box thingy. Your dad did a grrrreat job of PAINTING and Waiting fur it to dry and Painting and waiting fur it to Dry and Painting...
PeeS.... hehehehe you went POSTal today... BaaaaWaaaah.
you do tell a good story Madi... and i did laugh at the braces but they did work because the finished mail box is beautiful and straight and waiting for the first poop to fall on the ball.. i just know that... bombs away...
ReplyDeleteDad used ingenuity figuring out how to level it!
ReplyDeleteGood job.
It looks very nice! Your daddy did a good job.
ReplyDeletewow I bet there was a big parcel in the mail once that your old mailbox got a list :o)
ReplyDeleteor my dad was there, playing mailbox-baseball :o) It's great to see that your bipeds placed the new post very well and it looks great. Now I hope you will get a lot of mail with tasty things inside :o)
Your Dad is very talented, our Dad is not. We finks those birds are gonna like that new ball even better, he may haf to come up wif something else to scare them away.

Your peeps did a great job planting that post. After all you always said your daddy had a green thumb.
ReplyDeleteMadi, your Dad did a great job on the new mail box post! It looks shiny and new!
ReplyDeleteMom took great before and after photos of the project, too. We know, you were the snoopervisor from your window upstairs! BOL
Your BFFF, Molly
Madi, your dad did a fine job planting that new mail holder! And good thing he sunk it cement so it will not blow away during a...ahem...hurricane. And yes, watching paint dry in a humid climate is a long and boring process!

Madi, your Dad did a fantastic job with the mail box! We agree with Frankie about the birds being very rude about where they poop. We even get fly by bombs - just rude!
ReplyDeletehugs
Mr Bailey, Hazel & Greta
That sure looks nice pretty Madi and we hope the bird go some place else!
ReplyDeleteYou could ask your Dad to hang some old CDs above the mail box. Apparently bird don't like that!
ReplyDeleteWe're still looking at the long walk from the house to the mailbox....
It takes a strong mailbox to hold all the mail you get as mayoress!!
ReplyDeleteYour Pals,
Murphy & Stanley
Oh Madi your mailbox looks fantastic. Bet you will get more mail because of that thing
ReplyDeleteLily & Edward
You know, you can SAY that BM stands for "Before Madi", but every time I see those initials I think of something way different...I think you know what I mean.
ReplyDeleteI have to periodically clean off the top of my mailbox because it is under the tree and the birds like nothing more than pooping on it. It's really amazing to me that there is all that ground to poop on and yet birds manage to hit even the smallest target. I think they do it on purpose.
madi....cranbeereez...we understand why de poop post ...ooopz. we meen de POOR post....fell over ore wanted ta fall over ....itz coz oh de rood, stooooooooooopid, noizee, bug infested BURDZ....droppin caca over itz poor self, day in, day out, day in, day out......frank lee we wood bee in insane ...want we shuld send a cloakin dee vize for de nice new post N box !!
ReplyDeleteMadi you can count on a bird parking its feathery butt on that pretty gold ball! And that is a very pretty and well planted mailbox. It wouldn't last a week on The Tiny Ten.. peeps like to be artistic on our country road and redesign the appearance of mailboxes.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely new mailbox:-)
ReplyDeleteYour dad did a great job. I bet those birds do leave their mark though.
ReplyDeleteMadi your Dad did a great job with the new snail mail box!
ReplyDeleteHope the first mail wasn't just bills....
ReplyDeleteXXXOOO Bella Roxy & Dui
That is a nice smart looking mail box.
ReplyDeletePawsome new mailbox. Our mommy probably would have duct tapped the old one to the post. Thankfully your peeps are handy and knew how to install a new one.
ReplyDeleteIt looks great! But knowing those birdies, we're sure they'll hit it at least a couple of times.
ReplyDeleteYour Pawrents did a great job Madi! Hope that the birds miss their mark for awhile too!
ReplyDeleteWow, your Dad did a great job of leveling the post. The new mailbox is lovely and should last like furever. Now you just need packages filled with yummy treats to fill it up.
